Will USC come after Kiffin?

Seems lots of folks are thinking that USC will throw a ton of money at Kiffin to try to lure him back to LA. I'm hoping that Kiffin remembers how he was treated out there, and that Keith keeps Kiffin in Oxford for a very long time.

Who knows what kiffin would do if they came after him but I like to think that he would be happy where he is now.  Being in the SEC is even more of a big deal now than when he was at Tenn.  Not even sure if A&M and Mizzouri had been added when he left Tenn.  He also has to consider that Sabans dynasty can't last forever and he can be in a great position to fight for conference and national dominance once Bama starts to decline.

I don’t know what Kiffin would or wouldn’t do — But if that were to happen it would be  a bad look for him and USC both.

I look for USC to pursue coaches like Luke Fickell, James Franklin and maybe even Urban Meyer.

Although in my opinion the PAC 12 overall just isn’t very desirable right now — they seem to be behind the other Power 5 conferences right now

I don't know what he would do if offered but remember...

He wasn't just fired at USC, he was left on the tarmac to find his own way home. I doubt he goes back there. If a dump like Tuscaloosa can keep Saban, a place like Oxford can keep Kiffin.

Re: Will USC come after Kiffin?

What scares me about next year is who will Kiffin have as his QB next year?  Would it be easier to leave for greener pastures if offered, or stick around and go through some more growing pains?

Good point.  But we do have a highly rated QB in Altmeyer that could be developed under Kiffin's tutelage.   The transfer portal is always a great option for us as well.

Re: Will USC come after Kiffin?

No way in hell he would go back. They not only fired him, but embarrassed him after he spent years there as asst and then HC under the worst NCAA sanctions since SMU got the death penalty. They dont have enough money.  Some argue that the AD Pat Haden that fired him on the tarmac is no longer there, but as Kiffin has said to me privately "the bastards that sent him out there to do that are still there".  his reply after I asked him a few years ago after Haden had been fired also if he would ever go back to USC.  The money men U$C are who he hates are still there.  Lane after this year could probably get the majority of any big time jobs that will be open, so he aint dealing with that crap.

He is happy in Oxford, has a girlfriend, is having a ball. OM has given him everything he has asked for so far( of course he has only asked for reasonable things so far and keeps in perspective that he is not at Bama or Ohio St, etc, but with the SECN and new deals the SEC has coming up, money is no issue for any SEC program for facilities, coaches, etc).  So for him to leave in the next few years, it would have to be something insane.

With the numbers Corrall is putting up and Kiffins history with NFL qb's, remember he has 3 current starters that he recruited to Bama and basically developed them all at the same time in Tua, Hurts and Jones. Also, OM having a open starting QB job, the top rated QB's in the country at other schools that are not yet starters are going to be flooding the text messages of Kiffin and Lebby.  I will put money on a ton that are on other Power 5 top 10-15 rosters that are not playing for whatever reasons are already putting out feelers to OM thru HS coaches, etc.

College football is a different game and kids are moving quickly is they are not playing, qb's even faster. Either you get in the game or get left behind.

That is taking nothing away from Altmyer, he may develop this fall and next spring and summer to be the guy!

I would think it would take one hell of a contract (i.e. huge signing bonus, massive annual base and incentives, and full payout of the contract if terminated for any reason i.e. no moral clause bs) and it won't be subject to negotiation.
