I have to question his recruiting ability?  He was at SC and Tennessee with Orgeron recruiting for him.  Bama network recruits for itself.  Not saying he can't.  He just has never had to like he would at Ole Miss.  
Outside of that he's been a PR nightmare and a constant distraction.  Not what we need for our next HC.  
Plus bringing him would also bring back his brother and his NCAA baggage.  
 

True -- he would be a lightning rod and that's certainly not what Ole Miss needs.

Unfortunately our 'button down shirt' country club entitled class can't stand the thought that someone would come along and threaten their rule..... So I look not for a "lightnin" bolt and predict it will be more like static electricity....because THAT is not a threat to certain folks....

I am an eternal optimist, but i have no idea how all this plays out. I kinda want TAM to win out so they don't fire sumlin.  we just don't need another school in the SEC to compete for a new coach.  I guess the issue is that what we need is not the same as what other teams need. but a good coach is a good coach and where he coaches is not as important when you have the ability to produce.  The thing is, Ole Miss has proven to be a winner.  We have proven that we can compete and we have proven we will spend the money and pay our coaches.  

The 2 things we have to compete with is the NCAA BS that needs to be finalized asap as well as all the new coaching searches from other competing schools.  I am ignorant to all this administrative process of the ncaa, but I would have had a team of lawyers camping out at the NCAA HQ like they did during their witch hunt in oxford.  I would be like a military force compiling my attack teams at the gates waiting to jump over the wall at any moment forcing the NCAA to shit or get off the pot.  The whole caveat to this deal is if the NCAA has us by the nuts and all we can do is wait it out, but there seems to be so many issues of conflict with how they ran this investigation, there has to be some sort of middle ground here.  Judging by the last 3 mild slaps the ncaa brought in the last rulings I just don't know if they were warming up to drop the hammer on us or if something else is going on.

Anyway, all this crap has to be put to bed asap.  The faster we know the ruling, the faster we can get over this thing..  What will kill us is if we end the season and coaches that are available see that we don't even know our punishment, they will not give us a look.  My opinion we would get some guy like Orgeron who has some of the traits we are looking for but zero experience running a program.  We are now to big of a program with to much money at stake to roll the dice on some dude with potential and no resume as a HC>

Anyway, here is where I am right now.  McGriff has been a let down.  I don't care what anyone else thinks, I believe we have talent on our D.  We had close to zero talent on D when Freeze got here and that D looked better than our guys so far.  I want a new coach who will bring HIS staff in.  I would not mind Frank Wilson, but that in my opinion leaves the door open with keeping Matt Luke.  I love Matt Luke as a rebel, but I am done with him as a coach.  Sorry, but how many injured QBs do we need to endure because our OL underachieves for the 6-8 years he has been a coach here.  How inept do we have to be at running the ball?  I want a completely new coaching staff.  

I don't want Mike Leach. At least I don't think I do.  historically I am not sure Mike has had a solid Defense year in and year out where ever he has gone.  I think we are going to have to get out of the mindset that we are going to score 40 points a game yet we give up 38.  We need a coach that will make defense more of a priority.  It is fun to score points and I obviously want to keep that aspect.  when we had a top 40 D, we were in the running for the SEC and national championships.   Who can bring that here?  Not sure.   will be praying for who ever can wants to be our coach
