1. We hired a DC who has little to no experience as a DC. Players out of position and playing with poor fundamentals.
2. We hired an OC that thinks sandlot football, that works against lesser talent, can beat SEC defenses. Might be the worst offense I've ever witnessed....in that it is totally undisciplined and relies on Play Station type bomb plays too much. A good cover man will take away those outside receivers.
3. HC that has never even been a coordinator. (yeah, I know, it was too late to find anyone else but he's in over his head.)
4. I HATE that damn landshark. I don't understand why people can't see that it's being positioned to become our new identity.....Rebels will gradually fade away and be replaced by a waiting in the wings Charlie the Tuna.

Have to wonder if the 3 coaches Freeze hired were not also a byproduct of the NCAA cloud of uncertainty. Then factor in how many in the coaching circles were aware of his alter ego.
Regardless all of them were bad hires but I'm not sure Saban could win with the team we fielded this season.
We have some elite talent at 3 or 4 positions but the rest isn't even middle of SEC talent wise.
This was coming whether Freeze or any of the previous staff was here or not.

Yup -- and the wheels already started coming off last year when Feeeze was still here.

This mess is all on Freeze. He was too busy trying to be famous and forgot why he was hired. Hugh did not want to hire anyone who would overshadow him, or possibly get his job. This was a big reason why Dan Werner was fired from Ole Miss. Freeze knew some heads had to roll in order for him to keep his credibility. He was looking for scape goats and Werner was one of the goats. Werner could have become the head coach at Ole Miss after Freeze was fired. There is no doubt that Werner could have done a much better job than Puke. If Freeze gets a show cause, which is what the NCAA wants to give him, then he certainly deserves it.

I liked Werner. He was a 'traditional' offense type guy....I think his influence gave us a lot of our success. I suspect as things began to unravel he and HF clashed and that's why he was fired....I'm guessing he was wanting to become more conservative/traditional and HF was wanting to open it up even more.... The divide became too great and irreconcilable.
Personally, I wish we had called Werner to come back as interim when HF quit. I think his skill set and seasoned demeanor would have been really good for this team.

Hiring Werner would have never happened because it was a good, logical decision. Ole Miss is not known for making these type of decisions. Werner would have been an excellent HC, in addition to being a superb developer of QBs. Ole Miss certainly could use a good OC and QB coach. Lingo is not getting the job done with his gimmicky offensive scheme that is designed for sandlot type play.

Ding, Ding, Ding.....
Yep....WAOM.
That's why I've been saying our problems stem from the top.... The common factor with our past 40+ year romp in the 'wilderness' is the administration. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit...yet we keep picking our 'fruit' from the same tree. I don't see it changing and we'll hire another staff and the results will be the same.....failure.
