some of the instate Ol that have been waiting around thinking they can wait till the last minute and then pick OM, better get off their arse and commit. These guys are coming from big HS programs that have been coached well from elem school on up and will be ready to play.  This kid comes from a 6A school. In texas that means a enrollment of at least 4100 students in 9th-12th grade.  Think about that, just to be a starter on the football team is a accomplishment.  They pay the HC's at these type schools 110-125K and that is to coach football ONLY. No teaching, etc.  These schools have their own ADs so the HC and in most cases the OC and DC do not teach. The OC and DC make 65K-80K ( depending on years in service) and they only coach.

Kids like the Cushman kid from Fl come from the private school ranks in FL which is a much bigger deal than private schools in TX. Private schools in Texas are like minor league, usually rich white kids, etc. A few recruit minority kids that are players, but most dont.  Fl is different in that they have a ton of private schools that play big time ball.  So Cushman has been coached by coaches that are paid well ( public school coaches in Fl are not paid well and even their HC's dont make a ton of money and have to teach several classes) so he is ahead of the game.

unfortunately we all know how the schools in MS pay and spread their coaches thin in making them teach and coach and do the laundry for the team, drive the bus, etc.
