Re: Bianco staying put

Bianco peers over the dugout wall as he suddenly realizes the pitcher should have been changed two innings back.  As a result, the Rebels lost another hosted Super Regional and once again do not make it to Omaha.

Re: Bianco staying put

We weren't going to win that game against AZ and honestly I'm surprised that we made it to a super regional. We were bit by the injury bug this year and it just wasn't the year.

Re: Bianco staying put

Sooper, respectfully, I just think that excuse doesn’t float after 20 years. I hear what you’re saying and if we would have gone to 5 or 6 CWS in previous years then suddenly missed this year, I would be more likely to agree with you. That is just not the case.

The greatest thing that could happen to OM baseball will be for MSU to win the national championship. Then complacency will disappear and we can make progress.

Fair enough — but there are 19 years worth of postseason flops if you take this season out of the equation.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I am disappointed in Bianco as well. I just can't pin this one postseason on Bianco.

Re: Bianco staying put

A well-rounded team has multiple quality players.  If one player is unable to play, then another player should be able to step up.  Losing Elko and Hoglund was bad for the program, but then the boneheaded, predictable coaching by Bianco did not help matters any.

There is no doubt that Bianco has elevated baseball at Ole Miss and increased the expectations of the fan.  Bianco has peaked as a coach and to scout his team an opposing coach only needs to look at past seasons.  He has not changed his coaching style to adapt to the current game.  He micromanages every aspect of his team by not allowing assistant coaching to entirely do their job, his pitch calling is predictable, and he just cannot win the big games when they count.

Once again this season, Bianco has proven that he cannot get out of a Super Regional into the CWS, no matter what the reason.  He is now 1-21 for going to Omaha (Ole Miss At Home Again).

Re: Bianco staying put

Another example:  Nothing against Baker, he is probably a good teammate and a joy to be around, but when your offense is so dismal and your fielding skills, agility and mobility on defense is a hindrance, you find a better fit.  We did not!  When someone is that much of a liability to your overall success you eliminate or at least reduce that liability,,,   He did not and I dare say it cost us several games.  He (Bianco) has an overwhelming loyalty to some players and a very short leach on others.  My personal opinion is that Coach B doesn't handle his pitching staff very well, either.

Hitting is a crap shoot also,  We can look good against some teams and horrid against others.  He consistently take pitches in the strike zone and then swing wildly at pitches way out of the zone and in the dirt.  Because we are always swinging at pitches in the dirt. the opponents fans ought to be yelling "throw it in the dirt" to their pitcher.

Other teams deal with injuries all the time and still get to CWS.  And I don’t think it’s fair to say we weren’t going to win the game.  Game 3 of a super regional and you better have a chance to win it.
