Bats have gone cold again

3 runs in the 1st inning and not squat since — you’re not going to beat an offensive team like Arizona like that

Bianco is the David Cutcliffe of baseball.  We got a lead and started getting uptight trying to hold on.

The only good thing about tonight;s game, we may only have one more game to have to watch Cael Baker flop around like a catfish on the bank.  Worst first baseman we have ever had and couldn't swing his bat into the stands and hit anything,

Re: Bats have gone cold again

We started the game like we did the season, with a lead at the beginning, only to flop like a flounder until the end.  Ole Miss needs to step up in baseball by looking for another head coach.  Bianco has elevated the program but has peaked in his career.  Rebel fans will see nothing more than the tease they have experienced for the past seasons if Bianco remains the head coach.  You can almost be assured that his run in the SEC Tournament, combined with a Regional win, and an appearance in the Super Regionals will get him more years and more money.

Re: Bats have gone cold again

They were sitting fastball all night. Every home run and frozen rope hit was off a 90+ mph fastball over the middle. I watched them often take first and sometimes second strike off speed over the plate. Throw them a fastball over the plate and they jacked it.

I know as a hitter you always expect fastball and can have time to adjust if it’s off speed and not the other way around. But this was to the point of taking strikes on off speed in anticipation of the flat fastball and we kept supplying it.

Our hitting was the opposite. Facing a rattled 300lb pitcher with long hair we hit into a double play to end the threat. Elko either had Taco Bell for lunch or has been reading the newspapers about how great he is. Very poor showing.

Re: Bats have gone cold again

You are going to get ALL or nothing from Elko.  Homerun or strike out.  Cael Baker is a for sure OUT.  It amazes me how we are supposed to be such a great hitting team but so many of our guys stand and watch perfect pitches, like those Diamond was serving up and we watch them go by but swing at so many pitches out of the strike zone.

Re: Bats have gone cold again

I am not a baseball expert, but someone who knows baseball said that Bianco is easy to scout.  His pitch calling is very predictable, he almost never bunts, and he likes for his players to swing for the fences.  A big problem is that Bianco micromanages his staff and does not give them much freedom.  Bianco has peaked as a coach and will most likely continue being a good coach, just getting no championship results.

Re: Bats have gone cold again

We also let the hottest hitter on the planet almost single handedly beat us.  Very similar to the super regional in Oxford that we lost to Miami.  We kept pitching to that Weeks kid and he kept hitting it out of the ballpark.
