Why is the Dallas Baptist/Virginia super regional in Columbia, SC? I know Virginia won the regional there but wouldn’t it shift to either Virginia or DBU?

Blame it on the Covid bug . . . AGAIN!!!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 20 host sites were approved by the NCAA prior to NCAA regionals. That arrangement led to a unique circumstance where South Carolina served as a No. 2 seed in its own ballpark, with Old Dominion serving as a traveling No. 1 seed. Because neither Dallas Baptist nor Virginia were among the original 20 host schools, they'll be playing at a neutral site. After more than 7,000 fans attended South Carolina's prime-time bout with ODU, it seems unlikely the Founders Park atmosphere will reach that same level of excitement, but the Cavaliers could have a slight advantage with Charlottesville in driving distance.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, the NCAA announced before the end of the regular season that all postseason sites would be chosen in advance, instead of its standard of rewarding the 16 best teams of the season with host sites. The organization announced that the sites could still host games even if the home teams were no longer playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Once again Ole Miss fails to get out of a Super Regional and go to Omaha. This seems to be a consistent pattern with Bianco teams.
