I have it as part of my homeowners insurance — actually forgot I had it — it’s not just really expensive but I’m wondering if living in Desoto County if it’s even worth having?

You are in the New Madrid Fault zone, so it might be good to have earthquake insurance. Here are some links with information related to the New Madrid Seismic Zone:

I have it as part of my home owner's insurance because DeSoto County is in the NM Fault zone. The problem will be that mine has a 20% deductable. I'd have to make a loan on my 401K, but it'd be better than a total loss. I'm hoping I never have to use it, but that's the definition of insurance.
