Ole Miss Baseball Bianco'd with SEC Results

Ole Miss started the season strong with some big wins against TCU, Texas Tech, and Texas.  With the start of their SEC schedule, the Rebels had two series sweeps against Auburn and Alabama.  Then, in Bianco fashion, the wheels fell off the cart.  Ole Miss lost the next four series to Florida, Arkansas, Miss. State, and LSU.

The Rebels finally won a series with a sweep against a then hot South Carolina team.  This gave Rebel fans hope that the remainder of the season might give better results.  A trip to College Station with a series loss against a low ranked Texas A&M team proved that the team would continue playing Bianco ball.

Now Rebel fans realize that their once #1 ranked team has struggled in Bianco style and will probably have both a poor showing in the SEC Tournament and Regionals.  Bianco was given an extension in 2020 for his ghost championship team that played well in the regular season but did not get to compete in SEC play due to Covid.  Most likely this team would have folded up the tent in SEC play just like almost every other Bianco team in the past.

Fans have to wonder why Keith Carter gave Bianco the four year extension.  Now Ole Miss is stuck with Bianco through 2023 unless he is fired by Ole Miss, hired by another team, moved to a cushy position in the Athletic Department, or graciously retires in order to keep from holding back Ole Miss baseball.

Ole Miss fans are now edgy and many are ready to see Bianco go.  It will be interesting to see what happens to the team and if Bianco is allowed to stay at Ole Miss.

Re: Ole Miss Baseball Bianco'd with SEC Results

I fully expect to lose at least 2 of 3 to Vandy, and probably take 2 of 3 from GA. Such a wasted year. I realize that Broadway has done really well this year, but the guy doesn't have an overpowering FB, so asking him to go 3 innings constantly is just a bad idea. I know our bullpen is garbage, but damn...

Having said that, I know there's a ton of very young talent on this team that'll be returning next year. But, we certainly need some arms for next year. We'll be without Hoglund and Nikhazy, and will probably end up with McDaniel and Diamond as starts next year - neither of which are dominate pitchers. I think it's certainly time for a change.

Let's give Bianco a gold watch, move him into an admin position, and get new life into this program.
