Re: Pretty quiet for LSU week and the return of Yawyaw

I'm not sure what to think about this game.  LSU has looked bad for most of the year, minus the Auburn game.  OM showed some fire against Vandy, but Vandy may have been worse than we thought.  If we can limit big run plays, we might have a shot.

The one thing that has me encouraged, somewhat, was that I was seeing guys actually trying to wrap up in the Vandy game. That is a big improvement from the arm tackling I saw earlier in the year. If our LBs can step up in run support, we've got a hell of a shot.

One of my best friends died Sunday so I'll be at his funeral Saturday. Don't really care about football this week.

Sorry for your loss.  Nothing like a death that resets priorities.  Prayers for you and your family.

Re: Pretty quiet for LSU week and the return of Yawyaw

I don't get the ire of so many Ole Miss fans still in regards to Orgeron.  If anything I wouldn't be stoking that fire.  You can rest assured he is ready to send a clear message to Ole Miss.  It's embarrassing to me that some of our fans got into a verbal altercation with him from the stands during the game two years ago.  Talk about no class.
Orgeron has been baited for years to say bad stuff about Ole Miss and has always taken the high road.  Some consider his response of "wishing I was at LSU" a shot at Ole Miss.  I don't.  I think he's aware of how important that job is to their fans and he's going to make sure they know he has always wanted it.  What else could he possibly say?  Wish I was still at USC?  I mean come on.
You guys think the butthurt is bad now.  Just wait until around 1030 Saturday evening.  I predict many will be in the throws of an epic meltdown.
This is why it helps to be realistic about the current situation.  If this were a gunfight we are shooting a bb gun with one box of bb's and LSU is shooting a grenade launcher with cases of grenades.
We've won 2 FCS games and beat Vandy who is arguably FCS bad.  We have been hammered by our only 2 SEC opponents and beaten soundly by a Cal team that may be better than we think but certainly not SECW good.
With that in mind I can't imagine how anyone can look at our remaining schedule and see more than 1 win.  I'm certainly not saying it won't happen but we won't be favored to win in any of them and it will be an upset if we outscore any of them.  A major upset.
We just have to remain patient and know that the first week of December things will start to look much better for our future!

Sorry for your loss Sooper.

Bowhunter, I don’t get the hate towards O either. I know one thing, he will have LSU fired up and ready to beat our butts Saturday... and after the way our fans treated him 2 years ago in Oxford, if LSU wins I will be sad for us but happy for O.

For all of you who cannot get past the love for Ed, consider this.  Ogeron is an outstanding recruiter maybe one of the best bullshit artists ever.  However, he is no field general; he never made the correct changes at half time and then the stupidest thing anyone ever did was on 4th. And 2 at midfield with a small lead go for it with 3 minutes left against your arch rival.  He never fit at ole miss.  I went to his welcome party in Biloxi and he tried to knock me down chest bumping.  My wife said what an uncooth  dumbass. I am glad he got a good contract because he will be gone Dec., 2018.

The reason I am fond of Coach O isn't because of his HC abilities while at Ole Miss (it was his first HC gig), but because the guy absolutely busted his ass to try to bring in better talent and to build the program. How many times have you seen a HC come in and just become complacent? That is something that never happened with him. Even with Ole Miss fans openly rooting against him, every online publisher slamming him, the guy kept working as hard as he possibly could.

In hindsight, going for it on 4th and 2 was a bad mistake. He has a NFL RB running being a NFL LT and thought he could pick it up and was scared to put an exhausted defense back on the field. He has admitted it was a mistake in doing so. But I still have a ton of respect for him by how hard he worked for Ole Miss, despite the fans, media, and administration rooting for him to fail.

Re: Pretty quiet for LSU week and the return of Yawyaw

I agree Meridian.  After so many years of hearing how you couldn't recruit to Ole Miss because of one reason or the other, Coach O went out and proved you could.  Instead of just accepting the rejects from the big boys, he tried to go head to head.  I realize he didn't get them all but he did get some and I personally credit those two Cotton Bowls that Hoot takes credit for to Coach O's recruiting.  The 4th and 2 was a bad call and I thought at the time, it was just to try and draw them offsides and was horrified when they snapped it.  But let's not forget that later in the game we punted and they ran it back for a touchdown.  If we had punted the first time, they might have done the same thing and people would be complaining that he didn't go for it because BenJarvis hadn't been stopped all day.

I did not like the decision to fire him in year 3 but he had made a lot of folks mad by then and the 4th and 2 was just the excuse they needed.   I hated the Houston hire from day one but softened my stance when we started winning and said I was wrong but then he proved my Arkansas cousin right and folded like a cheap suit.  I wish we had stayed with O at least the 4th year.  He never had a QB and had already said he was going with the spread the next year.  Probably would have gotten Freeze more involved in the offense and made some good things happen.  Maybe still gone to the Cotton Bowl but if not, I think we would have gone to some bowl the next year.

All speculation and opinion on my part.  Your opinions are welcome and just as valid as mine.
