NCAA approves one-time transfer rule

"The one-time transfer rule for athletes in all sports has been approved by the NCAA's Division Council,  Athletes in all sports will be able to transfer once and be immediately eligible."

(This isn't official until end of Thursday's meeting.)

I hate this rule, if you are a CF coach, your job just got harder. You have to re recruit your team every year. If you are at a lower level school and do a great job of recruiting and get a kid that you are the only school that offers the kid and he has a great year, he just says see ya.

Re: NCAA approves one-time transfer rule

This is not a good rule.  As mentioned, a player has a good year and then his stock rises.  Now many other schools want him, so he is in the limelight and transfers to what he deems greener pastures.  This opens the door for free agency in college sports.  You have to wonder why the NCAA instilled this rule.

Re: NCAA approves one-time transfer rule

Horrible rule change. I would have thought that AD's all over would have fought against allowing that to happen. That really does screw things up as far as teams being able to plan out their recruiting classes - now they have the additional worry about players leaving the program. And, I bet we do see kids transferring on the regular now with other programs now being able to basically recruit kids that are on another team already.

Re: NCAA approves one-time transfer rule

ADs are feeling pressure from the woke leftist that they are taking advantage of these poor kids and the schools are making tons of money and they kids get nothing. So they feel by giving this they will get some pressure off them, but as we know, once you give in some...

Just blows my mind that we have let the woke crowd argue that these players are working for free, that tuition, room and board and cost of living are nothing.

Its insane.  99% of them are not going pro so the education is all they will get( for the once that get their degree).

Re: NCAA approves one-time transfer rule

In addition to the education, they will connections to get them good jobs.  Why does no one seem to factor tuition, books, housing, and food into the equation?  I sure wish someone would have picked up the tab on my education because it was a big chunk of change that put a hole in my pocket!!!
