LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction & Game Preview

LSU (5-2) vs. Ole Miss (3-3) Game Preview

Broadcast, TV, Game Time
Date: Saturday, October 21st
Game Time: 7:15 pm ET
Venue: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS
Network: ESPN

It’s amazing how LSU and head coach Ed Orgeron were so, so close to slipping into the abyss, and now, just like that, it was able to pull off a close 17-16 win at Florida, and followed it up with a great second half to stun Auburn 27-23.

And now, shockingly, the SEC West is there for the taking.

This is a badly flawed team, but the one SEC loss is to Mississippi State, who already has two conference losses. Beat Ole Miss this week, and next week at Alabama – as nasty as that is – would at least be a shot for the Tigers to take over the West race.

There’s no bowl game in this season of punishment, but the second half of the  season is about setting the tone for next season and beyond. Consider this one long tune-up, and beating LSU would bring a whole lot of hope for 2018.

One Reason Why LSU Will Win

How is LSU getting it done? The defense has shown up.

The offense has been spotty – a banged up Derrius Guice and limited passing attack have had something to do with that – but the D has been terrific.

Arden Key and company stepped up the pass rush against Auburn last week, keeping Jarrett Stidham under wraps. Kerryon Johnson ran well, but his 156-yard day wasn’t enough.

The Ole Miss offensive line has had a hard time keeping QB Shea Patterson from getting popped, and this week it’s going to be under siege. However …

One Reason Why Ole Miss Will Win

Patterson has been fantastic.

He might have been shut down cold by Alabama, but that’s Alabama.

Against Auburn, Patterson kept the team alive throwing for 346 yards and two scores, and he bombed away last week with 351 yards and four touchdowns against a solid Vanderbilt D.

The Alabama loss was the only time he hasn’t hit the 300-yard mark, and while he’ll have to deal with the second-best secondary he’s faced this year, he’s proven to be sharp enough and accurate enough to keep the passing game moving.

What’s Going To Happen

If LSU really is good, it wins this thing in a walk.

The team showed the heart and fight against Auburn that didn’t seem there at times early on, but that can’t be an aberration.

The defense will get to Patterson just enough to overcome a big day of sinking and dunking, and the offense will be okay enough to finally get Derrius Guice rolling again.

The star running back might not be 100%, but he and the ground game will rip off 200 yards and control the tempo throughout.

LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction

Re: LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction & Game Preview

This is one of those games where I could see LSU beating us like or drum, or us winning by 21.

Since Big O is running his mouth and LSU pulled off an upset last week, look for the mighty Tigahs to come out flat. I smell an upset brewing. Rebels 21 Tiggers 20

Re: LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction & Game Preview

Screw all that talk about Orgeron. If these players have any sense of pride at all they will want to atone for that shit show last year in Baton Rouge and not let Guice run for 180 on them.

Re: LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction & Game Preview

This is as sure a bet as there is remaining on our schedule save for moou.
LSU wins in a rout.  The O talk is getting the exact responce from our fans that he wants to share with his team.  He's one of them.  They are one and we are the enemy.  It's comical how our fans take the bait so easily.  Sad even.  But worry not they will be really pissed after we get run out of our own stadium Saturday.  Look for Shea to get knocked around early and often, be under constant pressure and throw 2-3 picks due to forcing passes under pressure.  We won't be able to run the ball any either to slow the pass rush down so we will try to dink and dunk our way around unsuccessfully.
Meanwhile that Landshark D that some are calling "turned the corner, growing up, getting better, etc" will be run through like shit through a goose.  LSU has no passing game and they won't need one.  They will run our asses silly with end arounds, jet sweeps, etc to get our LB's out of position and then bust us right up the middle for long gains.  I wouldn't be surprised if they rush for over 300 yards and you can rest assured O will not call of the dogs on Luke's behalf.  Luke is the epitome of the folks that O hates so much because of all the crap that he endured while he was here.  O won't be crying after this one.  This will be a long hard day for us as Rebels.
LSU wins going away 42-10.

Re: LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction & Game Preview

LSU will be able to run better than vandy and will defend the pass batter than vandy. It all depends on if we can run the ball.  If we can, we have a chance. If we can’t and our passing game fizzles the we are not winning a defensive struggle

Not going to put a score on it, but I hope the team realizes if they don’t want a repeat of the bama/au ass whoppin, they better show up and play

The problem we have had with coaches in the past is not being able to see pay teams back. Ark screwed us out of a secw championship yet the next year they whooped our ass again. Vandy has had our number the last 10 years. We just don’t respond well to payback games. But Matt Luke has a history with ceo.  I don’t think he likes him and I hope Matt holds a grudge. Being emotional driven is not good as a coach because you tend to miss the details. But I would be fine with Matt making this game personal

I have always been a ceo apologist but I am done now. LSU lost to Troy and state so they are not bullet proof. Their only win was against an average au team we allowed to kick our butt early. Before they tapped the brakes for us.

We can win this game if we want to imo.
