Got about another 1inch from about 10 last night till midnight, then it has been ice since, probably about 2 inches on top of all this other mess.    still sleeting nw at 8:15.

Glad I have a generator and gas

Don't post often but will add to this one.

I'm in Montgomery, TX,  About 40 miles north of Houston, and work in a Level II trauma center.  We got about 1/4 inch of ice then 5 inches of snow on top of it.  Most of the Houston area is without power.  We just got power back last night and water back this morning.  Temp is hovering right at 33 degrees and raining now.  Low tonight back to 28.  Will be a mess in the morning as everything that melts today refreezes.  

I remember the ice storm in 94 and taking supplies to my dad in Clarksdale from Tuscaloosa.  I saw fewer wrecks on that drive than I did on the 20 mile drive home from the hospital last night.  No one this far south was prepared for this, and definitely don't know how to drive on ice and snow. (Thankfully I married a girl from the midwest and spent a lot of time up north in the military.) 

Please be careful and stay safe.  Just the number of trauma cases we are seeing from kids on 3 wheelers and ATV's with parents is scary,  parents are okay, kids with major head injuries, For those of you with pets, we have had numerous broken hips, legs, arms and shoulders from people taking their dogs outside then slipping on the ice.  Once again, please be careful.
