Maybe Freeze gets another shot in the SEC, maybe he doesn’t — but if I’m an AD or University President, I don’t go down that road....way too much baggage and too big a risk.

All winning coaches do what Freeze and staff were doing. The issue is your chief rival got caught by the NCAA and then turned states evidence against OM and the NCAA and SEC gave msu immunity for that.  Never been done before in the history of the NCAA or SEC.  But since Freeze and OM had beaten the cash cow and banner carrier of the SEC and the SEC saw that Freeze had the formula to be equal to or over take Alabama, they couldnt let that stand. OM just dodnt bring as many eyes tot he TV or advertising dollars to the bank accounts of the SEC schools, so they had to be stopped.   So they did.  OM and their lawyers hung Hugh out to dry over the Houston Nutt deal, should have settled with him, but the OM lawyers and leaders at OM, figured to let Freeze fall on the sword and it would all be fine with the NCAA and SEC. Wrong. They were to stupid and narrow sighted to not realize that is was not just Freeze the NCAA and SEC was after, but the program Freeze had put in place to take down the cash cow of Alabama.   Also you had the Luke family pushing in the wings when they smelled blood in the water and they helped the screwing of Freeze by OM and Lawyers in the Nutt lawsuit.   I think most reasonable people now see that from the Luke family and their supporters.

I do not blame Freeze for any of the NCAA stuff.  If he didnt do what every other successful program was doing, you dont win and you get fired. Fans here and in the program would have been calling for his head and to be fired.

The only think I blame him for is not using a burner phone.

I dont blame him for his marital failings as we are all mortal and if I could go put every married college coach on a polygraph test and find out if they had cheated, the numbers would be bad.  That is between him and his family.  I wont throw the first stone. Their are 10 commandments, none are greater than the others.  If you have never broken one, well....

But to ban him from coaching in the SEC, just laughable when the SEC set this up, with the help of your arch rival.

If a SEC school wants to hire him and deal with whatever the perceived blow back their might be, then let them have at it.

As for Freeze taking the Tenn job, just dont see him doing that right now , even if it were offered because of the mess they are going to be in for the next 5-6 years. I also dont see Tenn reaching out to him because of those same reasons

Freeze isn't going to touch a program, even a dream job, with active NCAA investigations going on. I'm sure he's had enough of that.

Re: TN Vols planning to fire Jeremy Pruitt amidst losing, NCAA probe

I think Tenn and Freeze would have mutual attraction if not for the NCAA issues they will be facing.

As far as Freeze and the escorts, I always wondered if that was for him or for recruits.  Maybe it was both.

If I were Freeze, I would not go to near Tennessee.  They have money problems, and there will be a lot of NCAA hanging around next year.  Liberty has a good team returning with more recruits.  I would bid my time for a little while longer.  Besides Liberty is paying him decent money.

Re: TN Vols planning to fire Jeremy Pruitt amidst losing, NCAA probe

Freeze has a good gig at Liberty.  He is being paid well, he has given the school recognition, they are competitive in football, and they do not play in a hard division like the SEC.  Liberty is a good place for Freeze to rehab his character in order to get another job.

Right now Tennessee would not be a good place for Freeze.  The school has shown they will go behind a coach's back to better themselves.  Since they are admitting to guilt with NCAA violations, then who knows what type of penalty the Vols will incur.  In addition, Pruitt has hired a lawyer to represent him with a breach of contract, so there will most likely be lots of bad press out of his firing.

In the recent past, Tennessee has made some bad decisions related to their football program.  They have made some bad hires and the last coaching search was a fiasco.  UT made the mistake of firing Phillip Fulmer during an era when Tennessee football was competitive.  Since then, Tennessee has been a mediocre football program.  They recruit well, but they just cannot develop players.

Now the UT faithful are trying to get big names to come to Knoxville.  Many of these coaches probably do not want the turmoil associated with this job.  Their wish list includes Lane Kiffin, who most UT fans despised until recently when he proved to be both a good coach and a positive media personality.  It will be interesting to see how the UT Coaching search and Pruitt firing unfolds.

With Fulmer retiring, it'll make the job more attractive.

Re: TN Vols planning to fire Jeremy Pruitt amidst losing, NCAA probe

THis is all Fulmer's fault and under Fulmer's direction. , When he was the HC, they were dirty as hell in recruiting. He did the same as AD. The issues were the way he cheated in the 90's could not be gotten away with in the social media world of today.

Not trying to pay Pruitt is stupid, he has much incentive now to speak "freely" with the NCAA

Fulmer is as dirty as they come. His retirement is a way for him to try to save face. Lots of rumors of recruits getting McDonald's bags with cash in them during visits.

Re: TN Vols planning to fire Jeremy Pruitt amidst losing, NCAA probe

Tennessee may be the next SMU.  Their problems make ours look like parking tickets.

No Ole Miss people I know cared about whether Freeze violated NCAA rules or not (yeah, they all do it).  Where Freeze screwed up was with the daily religious tweeting, fooling around, strippers on speed dial, etc..  No morals and no credibility after that. He created his persona, and he destroyed it.  That was all on him, no one else.  I'm not judging the man, that's just the way it was..  He also got cocky as hell and that was a bad mistake - he pissed a lot of people off.

Maybe he has learned some lessons and will be a good coach somewhere someday.

A statement from Pruitt's lawyer claims he's being railroaded to save UT some bucks. It will all come in time.
