There wasn't a single team in the FBS that went undefeated last season, and this year's crop is shrinking by the minute. No. 2 Clemson, No. 5 Washington, No. 8 Washington State, and No. 19 San Diego State all dropped their first game of the season in Week 7, leaving just eight teams heading into Week 8 without a loss.
The following undefeated teams are listed by their rankings in the AP Top 25 Poll:
No. 1 Alabama (7-0)
Week 8 opponent: Tennessee (3-3)
Forecast: Alabama scored on the first play from scrimmage against Arkansas – a 75-yard touchdown run by Damien Harris – and the Tide never looked back in a 41-9 victory. Next up is a Tennessee team that has lost its last two games and its last three SEC contests.
No. 3 Penn State (6-0)
Week 8 opponent: Michigan (5-1)
Forecast: ESPN College GameDay is going to Happy Valley next weekend for what may be the biggest Big Ten matchup so far this season. With a bye week in Week 7, the Nittany Lions will have an extra week to prepare for the Wolverines, who escaped Bloomington, Ind. with a 27-20 win in overtime against Indiana.
No. 4 Georgia (7-0)
Week 8 opponent: Bye week
Forecast: Missouri kept pace with Georgia through the first quarter and a half, but the Dawgs scored 26 straight points as they ran away in a 53-28 win. Georgia's backfield depth was on full display as the team ran the ball 51 times for 370 yards and four touchdowns, led by D'Andre Swift's 94 yards. The Bulldogs are off next weekend before they play Florida on Oct. 28.
No. 6 TCU (6-0)
Week 8 opponent: Kansas (1-5)
Forecast: TCU held Kansas State to just six points and 216 total yards, while quarterback Kenny Hill threw for 297 yards in the Horned Frogs' 26-6 win. Their next test is Kansas, which hasn't won a game since Sept. 2.
No. 7 Wisconsin (6-0)
Week 8 opponent: Maryland (3-3)
Forecast: Wisconsin kept Purdue out of the end zone in Week 7, pulling out a 17-9 win at home. Badgers freshman running back Jonathan Taylor had another monster performance, rushing 30 times for 219 yards and one touchdown. Wisconsin will host a struggling Maryland team next week before going on the road to Illinois and Indiana.
No. 11 Miami (Fla.) (5-0)
Week 8 opponent: Syracuse (4-3)
Forecast: The Hurricanes erased an 11-point deficit against Georgia Tech, capped off by a game-winning field goal with eight seconds remaining, for a 25-24 win in Week 7. Now, they'll face an upset-minded Syracuse team that handed Clemson its first loss.
No. 18 South Florida (5-0)
Week 8 opponent: at Tulane (3-3)
Forecast: After a bye week in Week 7, South Florida will face a .500 Tulane squad in Week 8. All of the Bulls' wins this season have been by at least two touchdowns.
No. 22 UCF (4-0)
Week 8 opponent: at Navy (5-1)
Forecast: UCF faces arguably its toughest test of the season in Week 8 when the Knights travel to Navy, which suffered its first loss of the season in Week 7. UCF steamrolled East Carolina 63-21 as McKenzie Milton completed 21-of-27 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns.
