Our last head coach won a total of 3 SEC games in his two seasons as the full time HC.
Kiffin won 4 in year one, with no spring ball, an SEC only schedule and arguably the worst defense in Power 5.
Just an observation on my part.

And I agree with every point. The team was a massive improvement from last season. We were in every single game.

Unlike the last 3 seasons, this was at least an exciting season. We were in every game we played and could have been 7-2 with just a couple of more things going our way.
Even when Florida was on the verge of blowing us out, we came back to get within a score late in the game. Even when Corral had 6 turnovers against Arkansas and LSU we still almost won those games.
Lanes first year just seems like about year 2 under Freeze. We won some games but narrowly lost a handful. But as recruiting improved so did our wins.

With the Kiffin hire, the 2020 season made Ole Miss football interesting again. If the Rebels had a defense, they would have won several more games like Arkansas, Auburn, and LSU. The Auburn game should have been a win anyway, except for the bad KO return call by the inept SEC refs. This would have given the Rebels a 7-2 record not counting a TAMU game that was cancelled due to CV19. Who knows, with a good defense, the Rebels might have beaten Florida and / or Alabama.
If Luke were still at Ole Miss, the Rebels might have won 1 game, Luke would be making lots of excuses, and his cronies would say he needs more time to develop his players, give him a raise, and give him an automatic extension. Anyway, Ole Miss football is interesting again and it is good to see a top notch coach with a quality staff have a better than expected season, in addition to a good recruiting class.

We just ran out of weapons on offense. When Ealy and Sanders both went down we were done. We rushed for 307 against a very good defensive front and passed for 251, hell of a lot better than where we were last year. The defense is just what it is this year. Talent always makes coaches look good and lack of talent makes coaches look bad. I doubt we have anyone on defense that would start for LSU, maybe one or two, maybe. I like Kiffin and his staff and I think we are making progress fast.

Durkin used every coverage known to man and tried to bring pressure some, but OM has the worst DB's I have seen in 20 years. I Honestly have a kid on my HS team that would have been more effective out there and he is signing with Arkansas Tech. The Calvary is coming in recruiting. I know people will want to throw Durkin under the bus, its normal. But when you watch the video , oh my these "players" from the Luke era are bad.
now who knows, Lane may think the stink is just too much from such a horrible season that he makes Durkin the fall guy, but I give it a 20% on him and 80% talent. If he were to dump Durking, Partridge will be the guy to take over.

I could be wrong, but barring anyone leaving voluntarily for another job I don’t see a lot of staff changes if any this year

Lots of folks like to dump on Durkin, but Kiffin seems OK with him. Lane has been around football at every level all his life. If he thought Durkin were costing us games because of his coaching ability, I'm sure he'd move in another direction. The unfortunate thing is that previous head coaches neglected defensive recruiting. The better defensive players chose to go elsewhere and play in systems that put emphasis on defense. Our incoming recruiting class has a number of talented defensive players in it. I'm willing to give Durkin a chance with better and deeper defensive talent before writing him off.
