Rebels land big fish in JUCO DT Isaiah Iton

Isaiah Iton was sitting home in Pearland, TX., with his mother when the recruiting picture became clear.

"I was sitting down with my mother watching the Egg Bowl," Iton said. "I just fell in love with the program. I loved how Ole Miss fought the whole game when a lot of things weren't going their way. They were playing so physical. I knew I could go into their program and make a big impact."

Isaiah holds over 30 Power 5 offers but Ole Miss was the first SEC school to offer.

"The whole recruiting process coaches (Deke) Adams and (Lane) Kiffin stuck with me. They made me feel like it was home.  They never wavered and showed me love through the whole process. Coaches Adams and Kiffin played a big role in my decision to attend Ole Miss. They've been around big time programs and have a good track record of developing their players."

The Rebels have struggled on defense this season, but Isaiah believes that is about to change.

"I can tell how much better they are on defense in just the last few weeks. How physical they are playing out there. We are bringing in a bunch of dogs on defense in our class. I think me and Jamond Gordon are going to really add a lot to the defensive line. Coach Adams is recruiting some big time players to come in and help. I'm just ready to get up there in January and get to work. I'm ready to start building a connection with my teammates and coaches. I think big things are ahead for Ole Miss. I'm just glad to be a part of it."

Isaiah picked Ole Miss over Arkansas, Florida State, Mississippi State, Maryland and Missouri. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman will report in January and will have four years to play three. He was a freshman All-Conference selection at Northern Colorado during his true freshman season in 2019.

If he saw physical play then so be it. I saw a dL running in mud and dbs with bricks for shoes.  We need folks like him who can start controlling the LOS because what we have today is embarrassing.

Why we don’t stunt more is crazy.  We can’t get push but what we could do is generate movement on the los by shifting our guys around.  Hell, might get lucky and have a rb run into you rather than pick one of the many gaping holes he has to chose from
