OXFORD — Mississippi's coaches and athletics directors aren't the only folks trying to make political change happen this week. The players are getting involved too.
Ole Miss football players are hosting a rally on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m. on The Square. The rally is called LOUnited, attempting to unite Lafayette County, the City of Oxford and the University of Mississippi under the common goal of making the area inclusive and welcoming for all people.
Linebacker MoMo Sanogo and defensive end Ryder Anderson, led the organizing efforts. Sanogo told the Clarion Ledger that the march is an attempt to bring an end to systematic racism and police brutality and has the goal of convincing lawmakers to relocate the Confederate monument located on The Square in downtown Oxford.
"Really the message is about unity and unifying Mississippi," Sanogo said. "The statue is very divisive in nature. The flag is very divisive in nature. We just want to create a place that we can all bring our kids back to and be proud and not have to explain why that statue is there. We want to be proud of every aspect of the community where everybody can take the same amount of pride in it."
The idea
Ole Miss athletes and coaches marched for unity on June 6 in solidarity and support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
But for reasons out of the players' control, the march could only be so big. Because of university safety regulations, Ole Miss' march couldn't leave campus grounds or include outside members of the community.

With all of the distractions and self turmoil, how can the players possibly focus on football this season? There will be a constant banter about social inequality and persecution. You can almost be assured that no one will ever mention that determination and hard work achieves goals.

Confident here that they won't. Scratch 2020. After Nov we will move on to take action agains this attempt to takedown or succumb and die as a nation. So many weaklings so few backbones of courage.

These players that you see raising all the hell are the ones you wont see back after their gone. Then they leave their mess in the laps of the people that's loved the school for decades. Its all about bringing attention to themselves.

Lots of time to protest and march but how about the practice field and gym? I am sad for the alums who make the games and show up for Ole Miss. I can't imagine what I would have thought knowing this would be our fate back when I was there. Sickness is rampant.

I wonder if OM knows they're in bed with Hamas, the Black Panthers and trained Marxists. They're about to run off their fan base. People aren't going to put up with it and stay home.

A&M having similar problems, Big Money donors have had enough and are pulling back money. From a few I have talked to, they dont care if A&M doesnt win a game in any sport this year and as long as these shit starters are on campus. The Aggie Network is known far and wide for taking care of former players after they graduate with great jobs, etc. Many have told me and others, theses loud mouths will never work for a Aggie or anyone they have any control over. Hard lesson for some of these race baiters to learn, but life aint fair.
Bjork is being found out to be the weak limp wristed jackass I told all the A&M fans he was when he was hired. I told them how he bent over to the NCAA at OM.
The clown is on twitter engaging with the A&M qb applauding him starting this shit and keeping the flames going. Most alumni didnt expect him to come out and slam Mond and his teammates or track runner or basketball players. On a lot of this all he had to do was say nothing. After his first statement a fwe weeks ago, he didnt have to say anything. No reason to go on twitter and comment on Mond.
I have gotten used to no sports this spring, will 100% not watch the NFL just like I didnt in 2016. College football is very, very very close to me turning it off

This year the San Francisco 49ers will be flying the BLM flag beside the 49ers flag. I guess the NFL approved it. Heck , Goodell probably mandated it knowing that idiot.

MS can lay off half the police when we get the new flag as the crime committed by the "unhappy" won't be happening anymore. Life is going to be soon much better.
