If they don't resume college sports NOW

there will be hell to pay. It needs to be full steam ahead on June 1 or thereabouts or we will be seeing serious side effects at every college in America. There is overhead they can't pay without ticket sales and I mean 90% of normal. College enrollments have been dropping anyway but the economics of getting a degree too have changed. That revenue will be down as well as ticket sales. Get ready to be inundated with $$$$$$ requests.

We may have to get rid of all the pork that rides the coattails of football revenue?

No college is going to resume sports as long as the virus is infecting people and killing people. There were 24 new cases in Lafayette County today.

Re: If they don't resume college sports NOW

There is too much unknown now for having mass gatherings of people.  One thing for sure is that with mass gatherings, the COVID-19 is spread rapidly.  If the virus is not contained, then there will most likely be no mass gatherings, which could include college football.  Even if fans are not allowed at the games, there are at least 250 people present when two teams play a game.

The Los Angeles mayor has banned all large mass gatherings such as sporing events or concerts until 2021.  There is a good probablity that other major cities will announce the same protocol.  Right now there is no planned treatment or vaccine, so why would anyone want to subject themselves or other people to a potential deadly disease?  Some people who have been infected and recovered in Korea are now testing positive for COVID-19.   In addition, people showing no symptoms are carriers and spreaders of the virus.  Now how would someone feel if they were asymptomatic, took the virus home, infected a loved one, and the family members died?

Colleges may lose money this fall if there is no season, but you can be assured that these cash cows will make up the money in the upcoming seasons.  If these programs come knocking on my door for funds to prop up their programs, I just simply cannot donate.  Since March I have lots three months of income and potentially will lose three more.  Perhaps they can prop me up with some of their reserve funds!!!

There is lots of income generated through college football, and there is also lots of excessive waste.  Now is the time for colleges to re-evaluate their budgets and start making appropriate cuts that will allow them to operate on a shoe string budge.

We will be seeing masks for years to come but we need to open the economy for more than just the financial reasons.

Maybe Ole Miss will provide a custom mask for season ticket holders!!!  The custom mask could have the Ole Miss script logo on it.  For fan day, the school could have a red mask game and a blue mask game.

Re: If they don't resume college sports NOW

Fact: It's NOWHERE nearly as deadly as predicted
Fact: The death rate is much lower than predicted

The only reason we are backing out of the overreaction slowly is for political reasons. Politicians know that every death post-lockdown will be blamed on those that open up society. We were supposed to have over a million dead by now in the US. This virus is bad but not pandemic bad. It's not acting any worse than a bad seasonal flu.

Society never should have been shutdown to the extent that it was. The numbers never justified that kind of reaction. By locking down society, it created a crisis much worse than the virus.
