Ole Miss football win total released by Caesar’s Entertainment

Ole Miss football win total released by Caesar’s Entertainment

The college football season may be in a bit of jeopardy on the field due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Las Vegas is still moving forward as if it’s full-steam ahead starting in August.

Caesar’s Entertainment released its full slate of FBS win totals for the 2020 season earlier this week, their gambling prediction for each team’s over/under win totals.

Ole Miss is pegged at an over/under of 5.5 wins by Caesar’s with the over 5.5 drawing -120 odds, meaning that in theory, it should be slightly more likely by their predictions for the Rebels to reach six wins than to fall short and reach just five.

Unsurprisingly, Alabama leads the Southeastern Conference with a a win total of 10.5. Both Florida and Georgia come in second in the SEC, with a win total of 10.0 and reigning national champion LSU coming in a 9.0. Pulling up the rear of the conference are Vanderbilt with a win total of 3.0 and Arkansas at 3.5.

Nationally, Clemson’s 11.5 win total sets them as the favorite according to Caesar’s. Ohio State (11), Oklahoma (10), Oregon (9.5) are set as the favorites in the remaining power-5 conferences according to these win totals.

All of this comes with a grain of salt. There’s certainly a chance that the COVID-19 outbreak leads the NCAA and sister institutions to shorten or cancel the 2020 season. Caesar’s is maintaining the right to void all bets if the season is not the standard amount of predetermined games.

Re: Ole Miss football win total released by Caesar’s Entertainment

I just wonder if there will be a full season this year. I'm thinking that it'll end up being conference only games that are televised only - no attendance.

Televised with no audience would be fine with me.

But I think it would be a nightmare for the University.  I think players, coaches, trainers, etc. would have to be tested continuously or under some kind of constant quarantine (which you know kids aren't going to do).  And if anyone didn't want to risk the health exposure, then I don't think you could force them to do it without taking on a lot of liability exposure.  Guess we will see how it plays out.
