Days or weeks away

Well,  I really think my job is at risk.  I hope i am wrong, but I am expecting that mine and a lot of my coworkers are about to lose jobs.  I truly understand the risks of this virus, but it is about to cost a shit ton of jobs. Praying for everyone’s health and financial security because I see tough times coming.

Trump is not the most eloquent deliverable of speeches to the public, but I know the democrats in Congress have tried to sabotage him at every turn and the media has empowered the chaos.  I am so damned tired or the bs and turmoil.

The ripple of this will like be devastating to many. There will be pain and suffering. Hopefully some changes can be made to lessen this from happening but I dont think can ever be prevented. There will be some positives coming too.

Hopefully you'll be able to keep your job. Watching what's going on in Congress, and the Democrats really are screwing over the American people by holding up the stimulus package over things that have nothing to do with this virus. Look, I'm not a Republican at all, but seeing which party is willing to throw the baby out with the water just to try to win back the White House is sickening.

Re: Days or weeks away

I skeptically voted for Trump and was fearful as hell. I could not have been more wrong. He's perfect for the job and doing  great at it. He's trying to drain the swamp on both side os the aisle. He's not your basic Republican but he couldn't be elected on another ticket. We are in uncharted waters and need direction not opportunists trying to promote their silly ass agendas.

Re: Days or weeks away

I truly wish the underlying problem facing us now were political or economic. If it were, it would be much easier to solve. However, the problem facing us is the rapid spread of a highly contagious viral pneumonia for which humans have no acquired immunity. It won’t be brought under control by any amount of economic stimulus or political blabbering. Until it is brought under control, the economy will not rebound. Too many people are scared to leave their homes, except for essential items (food, medicine, gasoline, etc.). When people are no longer so concerned that they stop panic buying and return to normal purchase patterns, then you’ll see businesses reopen and the economy rebound. Get the health crisis under control, and the economy will respond accordingly. This is not just President Trump’s problem to solve or that of Congress. It is the responsibility of each of us to do whatever is necessary to bring this health crisis under control. We talk a lot about “personal responsibility.” Now would be a good time for all of us to exercise it.

Re: Days or weeks away

I was talking to a political strategist a few years ago about trump.  She is a "non partisan" but leans left.  I was talking to her about how I was warming up to trump but wish he would just chose what and how he says things better.  She commented that he does this things on purpose.  He does have a brash delivery but he is an entertainer which when you combine the two as a politician, it provides the left wing media the ammunition to generate what ever narrative they want...
Anyway, one thing I am hearing is that once this passes, the underlying economy was strong prior to the shut down.  So it will all depend on how small/medium sized companies  are able to whether the storms.

I hope over the next few weeks, we all do what is best for health and their financial stability.  Let's stop listening to everyone and their  agenda. Part of the issues we have today is making decisions based on real information and not narratives.. People can not make decisions for themselves if the media is pushing narratives.  That is all I see and it is pissing me off

Re: Days or weeks away

I'm Libertarian. I am now a fan of Trump where I was not before. He has shown tremendous restraint while the left and some right have essentially begged him to suspend our rights and declare martial law. The fact that he is allowing the states to determine things shows he does have a level head. I think that we are going to face this head on in a few weeks and damn the virus, open the society. Some will be upset by this while others will be happy. That's the way it goes in a severely polarized society.

I have a feeling that we are going to have bigger fish to fry on our hands soon than a virus and we are going to need a strong society to get us through it.

Re: Days or weeks away

I agree Semper.  Until they get a vaccine in place, nothing is going to improve. Yesterday Trump mentioned chloroquine and z packs working well.  I've seen other articles by independent drs stating they are having similar results.  Once we have a hammer for the virus, Trump can focus on the economy and I think he will take massive steps economically to get the economy jump started again.  Trump drives me nuts with some of his tweeting and other statements but I am ever so thankful he is the person in place dealing with this.

I'm hoping when this is over with, the US will start producing at least some of the things we import from China.  I'm happy to pay more for whatever it is.

And it would be really nice if all these morons in California (and elsewhere) would stay off the beaches, out of bars, etc.

The best comment I've seen about the virus is --> It's Not About You.  Amazing how many people just don't get it.

End of soapbox.

Re: Days or weeks away

Hopefully everyone will keep working during this crisis.  In my business we are dependent upon people who mostly travel to venues for Pickleball training.  We have cancelled two camps and may either cancel or reschedule one we have for the Summer.  With other venues we are in a wait and see status to see if they will be open and also if people will be willing to travel or sign up for these events.  One thing for sure, if I go, I will choose to drive except for the West Coast venues, and then I may take a long drive out West.

This whole ordeal is and will destroy our economy.  It will be hard to get back to the economic status we had only a few months ago.  Having politicians put their agenda ahead of the betterment of the people is ridiculous.  Sometimes I feel the media and Democrats are blowing things out of proportion so that they can topple the Trump regime.  Trump has proven to be an effective leader who gets positive things done.  With all the turmoil from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the upcoming Presidential election, the markets and economy will be extremely volatile.

Everyone be safe and take the needed precautions to deter the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  It will take the efforts of everyone working together to create a solution to this pandemic.
