Impact of Coronavirus
From the Office of Keith Carter

Dear Rebel Nation:

As our country faces the challenges of the coronavirus, we are feeling the impact in our Ole Miss community.

As you know, in conjunction with the leadership of the SEC and our medical professionals, we have taken a number of steps over the last week to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans. As announced yesterday, the spring athletics seasons have been canceled including spring football games, and all other team activities, including practices, workouts and meetings, remain suspended until at least April 15.

In order to secure a safe environment, we have closed team areas on our campus for the duration of that period and have instructed our student-athletes to stay home with their families. Even though we will not have face-to-face interaction with the majority of them, we will continue to provide academic, medical, nutritional, mental health and other services to our Rebels while they participate in online courses. The university remains operational, but like other departments, Athletics will largely be working from home. Please contact us if you have any questions, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

This ordeal has been particularly heartbreaking for our 172 in-season student-athletes, and I know that all of us in the Ole Miss family share that disappointment with them. For those fans that purchased baseball tickets, our staff is working through the refund process now. Season ticket holders have multiple options, and they will receive more information regarding steps for a refund, credit or converting to a charitable contribution. Single-game ticket buyers have received a refund to the original paymode, while fans who purchased through Stubhub will be given a refund directly from Stubhub in the next two to three weeks.

In addition, football season ticket renewals are ongoing, and due to the challenging circumstances, we have extended the deadline to April 20. Payment plans are available for now through August. There is no risk in renewing as refund requests will be honored if health issues persist.

We are incredibly grateful for your support, especially during this difficult time. We will continue to work with SEC and campus leadership to make appropriate decisions to reduce the risk of exposure and spread of the virus. While we all love Ole Miss Athletics, this is an issue that transcends sports and gives perspective to what is most important in life. Please take safety precautions for your household, and we look forward to cheering on our Rebels together soon.

Go Rebs!

Keith
