Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/2020/02/07/mississippi-state-football-coach-mike-leach-deletes-tweets-mitt-romney/4688657002/

I don't know why any college football head coach would want to tweet his personal political beliefs and attack a sitting U.S. Senator. In today's polarized political climate, you're going to rub somebody the wrong way. It might just be a recruit or his parents. Why even take the chance?

Re: Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

OK, I get what Mitt was trying to do...  the republican party holds itself accountable a million times more than the left does.  The issue is, the media always pounds the right on every thing they can and ignore the left's stuff. Mitt has just bought into the idea that if you want the media to like you, then show how you are trying to be the level head.  The problem, just like with mccain, alexander, mitt and others, the media does not care about you until you want to come out and bad mouth other republicans.  Then you are held up and celebrated.   people like Mitt simply forget how they were lauded during their primaries and then destroyed the moment they were the face of the GOP.  Notice how bush, mccain, mitt became so friendly with the media once they got their butts handed to them in the elections?  they did it out of self preservation and have changed their focus on trying to go along to get along despite what the left does.  They keep trying to get people to work together and find middle ground.  No matter how far left the left keeps going, folks like mitt seem to be chancing them instead of holding firm

With that said, I find it hard to not like leach

Re: Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

Just to clarify, the point my lead post was not to approve of disapprove of either Leach's political position or Mitt Romney. I look at this in a larger context. The main issue here is why would a college football head coach want to get involved in something controversial that generates strong opinions on both sides. It could be politics, prayer in schools, gambling/lotteries, or anything else that pushes people's hot buttons. Sometimes coaches cannot avoid controversy in situations such as a player's actions off the field, etc. However, it just seems unwise for a head coach to stir up controversy on a non-football topic when there was no need to.

Hey Mob, quit deluding yourself into believing that the Republicans are right or conservative. The government still moves left and grows exponentially under their control. Granted, it moves faster left under the Dems but Republicans are not doing anything to help this country.
Republicans = moderate left
Democrats = far left

The only party even close to right wing is the Libertarians. Our 2 party system is amazingly stupid and naive.

You have to wonder why the politicians do not represent the people and do what is best for the people of the country.  Instead they line their pockets and are self serving.

America might not have the best government, but we certainly have the best that money can buy. I agree with the suggestion that those in Congress should wear patches that identify their large donor/sponsors (like NASCAR drivers).

Re: Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

hey super, as a conservative libertarian myself, I have no delusion of the reality that republican and democrats both have their own big government bents.  both side generates their own version of bigger government et al.  My points was more so to beyatch about the media.  I actually think the media is more to blame regarding our current state of affairs than anything.  Mainly because we are not able to turn on the news anywhere without getting a heavy does of ideology injected into the message.  So no one can get a sense of what is actually going on and how it actually affects you or the longer term health of society/economy/etc.

that is why politicians turn into politicians and specifically in this instance, why Mitt is good with jumping on the anti Trump wagon because it will earn him favor in the media....

Re: Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

I'm laughing my ass off over the dipshit lieutenant colonel who testified against Trump and thought he would survive ... He's about one dumb son of a bitch.  And he's on the war college list and supposed to attend this summer.  I hope like hell the Pentagon finds a way to send his ass packing to Siberia.  This is an army thing - not political

I guess it's a military background, but I don't get involved in politics.  The USA survived Hoover, Truman, Johnson, Carter, Nixon, Clinton, W, and Obama -- it can survive anything.  And Trump is getting schooled in how Washington works.  How many outsider presidents in the last 100 years?  -- Carter, Trump who else. Clinton,  but he was exceptionally well read and a polished politician as compared to Carter and Trump.

PS I"m breaking my long standing rule to not discuss race, sex, religion and politics.

Re: Mike Leach deletes tweets criticizing Mitt Romney...

Leach is a self absorbed idiot.  He has gotten away with his clown circus in far out post like Lubbock and Pullman.  I don’t know if he will be able to control himself with the SEC spotlight in him, even in a crap hole like Starkville. Its still the SEC with the brightest of the spotlight on them 24/7/365.  The national media has thought some of his little quips were cute at those out post.

Someone, probably the SEC commissioner’s office , got to him, or the msu AD and told him to take that crap down.
