Northwood receiver Detraveon Brown waited until Wednesday's National Signing Day to unveil his college selection. With The Times and every local television station in attendance, Brown revealed Ole Miss as his choice.
Brown signed, did interviews with the media and cried. His parents also cried as they thought their son was headed to the SEC.
One problem: As of 6:30 p.m., Ole Miss does not have Brown listed as a member of their 2020 signing class.
The Times' Jimmy Watson received an e-mail from Ole Miss that stated the school "has not received official paperwork from Brown," so it was unable to comment.
Brown hauled in 58 passes for 912 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Falcons during the 2019 season. His other offers possibly included Houston, Kentucky and Colorado.
