We have 7 TE's I dk how many on scholarship but if I'd hung in there like Faniel, Hess and Pennamon, I'd be looking at the portal option. I'd be bummed out pretty bad for not getting any PT at all.

None very good, hanging in there dont win ball games. Pennamon should have been pushed down the road a few years ago.He was a slow back coming out of HS that was overrrated because he came out of a great HS program. He was basically a fullback recruited to a team that doesnt play with a FB. At 5'10" 235, calling him undersized is a slap in the face to undersized guys at TE. Guys like him you either force transfer after a year or 2, make them take a medical retirement if they want to stay and get their degree, or you tell them after their 4th year they are done. They better graduate and move on.
Faniel is entering his 4th year in the program, has contributed zero. needs to go. He should have left last year. Just a scholarship eater.
Hess might be the only one worth keeping around. A position change may help, but I doubt it. needed to transfer to a 1-AA school
Programs that compete at the highest lever get rid of these kinds of players. Nothing against the kids personally, but none were talented enough to be on a SEC roster. A&M has about 7-8 n the transfer portal this year, fisher gave some of the holdovers a year or so to see what they could do. Once he was sure they couldnt cut it, they were told to find a new home.
If you are a 3rd 4th or going to your 5th year and you havent played at least 50% of the plays or you are not a starter, time to move on. When Freshman come in and play and yo dont move off the bench and you are in year 3 at the same position. LEAVE
People can feel bad for them, etc, but this is big boy football. It s a business and all these guys understand that. Just keeping them on the roster and keeping a bench warmer on scholarship for 5 years is what schools do that stay at the bottom.

I agree with what you're saying but they likely don't want to go to Austin Peay just to play when they can get a degree from OM. I wouldn't. Penman has been hurt half of his career and should have hung it up I fear. They brought Hess in as LB but that quickly changes to "find a new home position". That is sad. We're wasting may 5-6 schollies on folks who may be on kickoff team.

Honestly, all will end up with a education degree or worse, so where they get the degree from to be a PE coach or asst HS coach and teach history really wont matter. I coach with guys with degrees from The University of Phoenix.. I am not joking. The teacher shortage is real
