Nations #1 RB Zach Evans to visit OM

2020 #1 RB signed with UGA in the early signing period. UGA just let him out of his LOI last week, and he is a free agent again.  I have followed this kids recruitment for 2 years. He is a Houston kid, that has had his fair amount of off the field issues. Not with the law, but with his coaching staff in HS. Missed the 1st half of the state semi final game because he was taking the ACT, was sent home the night before the state title game because he wouldnt turn in his cell phone at lights out( team won the state title without him).  Was suspended earlier in the year for breaking rules.

I could go on and on.

99% of the time I would say, just pass on this kid, but in this case i say he is worth the risk. If he gets to college and acts a ass, you cut him and its done.  His main problems are like many kids these days. no father at home, older brother trying to "capitalize" off him in the recruiting, etc, etc.

I feel a strong college coach I feel can gt him straightened out.  at the Under Armour  all star game he had a TV interview, he sounded like it was starting to sink in that he was about to blow this great opportunity.

He was trying to enroll for spring semester, he graduated from HS already, but was waiting on his ACT test score.  I think he finally got the score, but is going to sit out the spring since he has graduated and all spring college semesters have began. he cant sign another LOI in Feb as you are only allowed to sign one, even if you get out of that one. he can commit to a school this spring, but it is really meaningless, he will just have to enroll first summer session where he will be going. So this drama may go on until then.

Most people think A&M is in the cat bird seat now, and UF and OM are to get visits. He has only taken 2 official visits, L$U and A&M.  Part of his crazy recruitment was he signed with UGA and never took a official visit there.

Even if he doesnt end up at OM, it is a huge deal to get him to visit. It sends signals to other big name guys in the upcoming classes that Kiffin is doing something to get the attention of studs like this.

And yes, his HS team is that good. Northshore, won the biggest classification in Texas 6A.  They had about 15 Power 5 signees. OL to Bama, WR to A&M, other RB to Utah, etc, etc

New schools entering picture for 5-star running back Zach Evans

The No. 1 running back in the Top247 in five-star Zachary Evans is qualified to be a mid-year and has already graduated high school per a source with knowledge of the recruitment. But the source added the 5-foot-11, 200-pound Evans still plans to take official visits this month before making his final college decision. So at this point he's not expected to enroll early.Texas A&M appears to still be a major contender. Two other schools that seem to be making a move are Florida and Ole Miss.Earlier this month Georgia released Evans from his Letter of Intent he signed during the Early Signing Period (Dec. 18-20). At that point it appeared he picked the Bulldogs over LSU and the Aggies. We know Jimbo Fisher and his staff are still pushing.Evans ranks as the No. 14 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2020 cycle. The dynamic athlete won MVP honors at the Under Armour All-American Game and rushed for 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 127 carries as a senior for North Shore High School (Texas).Evans has only taken two official to date with LSU getting a trip the weekend of Oct. 26 and Texas A&M getting one the weekend of Nov. 15. He also returned to the Aggies campus in mid-December.Since Evans had done all he needs to do to enroll early, he could still opt for that at any time.=23px2COMMENTS247Sports compares Evans to NFL running back Melvin Gordon."Dynamically athletic running back with prototype size and frame potential relative to the position," 247Sports national Analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in his evaluation. "Owns college-ready build with frame space to add more bulk. Flashes elite athleticism verified in combine testing environment. Makes it look easy, sometimes to the point that it's deceptive. Shows great top-end speed and outstanding close-quarters lateral mobility confirmed by a 3.91 shuttle. Flashes devastating start-stop-start ability in close quarters, coupled with impressive hesitation stutter. Effortlessly strings moves together in the open field to elude multiple defenders. Chameleon in ability to alter running styles, going from elusive darter to hole-punching, straight-line galloper. Home run hitter with high-volume capability. Patient and presses the line of scrimmage to set up blocks. Size and strength potential could provide high ceiling in blitz pickup. At times dances in the backfield rather than accelerating through the hole. Sometimes an upright runner who presents a bigger target. Does not always finish runs with expected strength. Will try to bounce runs too often. Could get on the field immediately at high-major level and become a Power 5 star, in addition to first-round NFL Draft ceiling.

It's a nice change of pace seeing these more talented kids seriously considering Ole Miss. I think Lane will have this team loaded with some of the best talent we've had after a few recruiting cycles. This is his chance to prove to everyone that he has what it takes to win on the big stage.

If he and his family are happy in Oxford, he can build his own dynasty right here. He's capable of doing that, if he will.
