South Alabama strength & conditioning coach Lance Ancar has left the Jaguars for a job in the SEC.
Ancar, 35, is headed to join the S&C staff at Ole Miss, two sources confirmed to AL.com. Ancar announced his departure from USA over the weekend, but did not reveal his destination.
Coach L.A.
@Silverback_LA
My time with @WeAreSouth_FB was invaluable. These guys were MY guys. FAMILY. In 2+ years, they’ve left an immeasurable impact. Thank you for letting me be your coach and loving my family so well. #GoJags

The high-energy Ancar — known as “Coach LA” — came to South Alabama in 2017 after four years at Alabama, where he was assistant strength & conditioning coach under Scott Cochran. Ancar also worked with the Crimson Tide baseball and tennis teams during his tenure in Tuscaloosa.
South Alabama coach Steve Campbell said he has already begun the process of finding a replacement for Ancar, who first joined the USA staff under former coach Joey Jones.
“LA did a great job with the strength and conditioning program,” Campbell said. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Ancar, a Louisiana native, played on the offensive line at North Alabama from 2005-08 and later played four seasons of indoor football with the Alabama Vipers and Georgia Force. He spent a year as an assistant coach at Florence High School and also coached in Minnesota and Georgia before being hired at Alabama in 2013.

Ditto. I thought Wilson Love was the S&C coach.
