Freeze resigned to save face instead of being fired.  There were character clauses in his contract that he breached.  As a result, Ole Miss did not have to pay him.  Even if Freeze were fired, he would not have been paid due to breach of contract.

The glory years of Freeze were great and included top recruiting classes and a Sugar Bowl win.  Freeze allowed his ego and holier than though attitude to get in the way which resulted in a downward spiral for the football team.  In the end he lost both the control and respect of the players.

I disagree, OM could not prove anything on Freeze other than a phone call to some whores. They would have needed much more than that to void that contract.   I give Hugh a ton of credit for just resigning and getting out of the way.   Do any of you think Urban Meyer, Dan Mullen, Phillip Fulmer, Bobby Petrino would have done that ?

His resignation as opposed to firing like Lucky LUKE had to be done, saved OM millions. I give him high character marks for that. He, I believe, was in repentant mode. I want to see him make a comeback but not in sec w for obvious reasons.

High character marks? Hell, he got caught red handed with morals infractions, using State owned equipment for illicit purposes and lying to the AD about the circumstances, so Freeze could do nothing but resign. He would have been fired WITH cause otherwise. That would have been worse and Hugh knew it. He didn't walk away from 16 million because he was being noble. He walked away because he had no defense.

OM would have lost or settled after a long drawn out legal battle if Freeze wouldn't have resigned and walked away.

Tell me what other things they had on him other than calls to some call girls?  I am not aware of anything else.  They cannot prove he acted on the phone call.  He could make up any story about the calls.

People can say all they want, but Freeze saved OM a huge amount of more public embarrassment and $$$ by doing what he did in resigning and walking away.

If you think that Sexton let Freeze willingly walk away from millions that Sexton would have gotten a piece of just so Hugh could be a good guy, I've got some swamp land to sell you.

Slimey Sexton would never let anything get in the way of losing a client especially one who would bring another fee probably every 3 years. You don't piss off a guy who is going to coach again. Yes, high marks for resigning. Lower marks for the call girls. Beating Bama back to back, high marks, being Christian and trying high marks, being a Christian and failing the beliefs, family and friends low marks. The program was far from perfect yet so much better than we are accustomed. His name is in the conversation at some big time schools and he WILL BE FORGIVEN by another school. We have a guy right now who has lost jobs and a wife for similar failures, so now it's ok? It is if we truly think he's changing his ways. Otherwise we are just another bunch of hypocrites. I want to believe CHF has changed and CLK as well, but I'm a cup half full guy.
