While the holiday season is in full swing, head coach Lane Kiffin and his coaching staff have been as busy as Santa Claus delivering offers to top prospects across the country. Here is a look at prospects Ole Miss has targeted with offers throughout the holiday period.
Savion Williams | WR | 2020 | Marshall, Texas (Marshall HS)
Williams is a three-star prospect who chose not to execute his letter of intent during the December early signing period. We'll see if Kiffin is able to convince him to take an official visit to Oxford during the month of January. He already has one set to Arkansas, and the Razorbacks are believed to be the team to beat at this time. His 247Sports evaluation says: Tall, big-framed receiver with outstanding height and overall size. Already in the 6-foot-4, 200-pound range as a HS junior with plenty of space to add more mass if desired. Natural playmaker who possesses a large catch radius. Frame enables him to shield off defenders from contested balls. Has flashed impressive ball-winning ability in high school. Ceiling as a red-zone weapon is high. Shows encouraging in-space mobility after the catch, especially relative to size. Displays impressive ball-tracking ability in vertical passing game. Athleticism has not been verified in a testing environment. Must improve hands-catching ability to maximize frame and catch radius. Inconsistent high-pointer. Can get quicker at the snap. Does not always leverage DB's into breaks. Raw, but has tools. Could become a difference-making Power Five starter with ceiling beyond that dependent on college refinement and development.
Aalah Brown | WR | 2021 | Valdosta, Ga. (Valdosta HS)
Brown is a three-star prospect rated as the nation's No. 68 wide receiver in the 2021 class by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite index. The Rebels are his second SEC offer, joining Vanderbilt. Brown also holds offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Oregon, Pitt, Temple and West Virginia.
Jacurri Brown | QB | 2022 | Valdosta, Ga. (Lowndes)
Brown is a true dual-threat quarterback with the ability to punish defenses with his arm and legs. Kiffin and Company are in on him early, as his only other reported offer is from UAB. Rusty Mansell of 247Sports, who covers Georgia, recently wrote this about Brown: "The 2022 QB class is already starting to flex in Georgia. There is a ton of buzz about sophomore QB Jacurri Brown at Lowndes and what he is doing. Teams that face the Vikings are raving to me about the 6-foot-3, Dual Threat prospect. He can hurt you with his legs or arm. I expect him to really take off in the next month and especially after more people see him if Lowndes plays in Atlanta on TV for the state championship."
Amarius Mims | OT | 2021 | Coachran, Ga. (Bleckley County HS)
Mims is a national, five-star recruit rated as the nation's No. 3 offensive tackle and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia's 2021 class by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite index. His offer sheet is already full of blue-blood programs, including Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and now Ole Miss. Here is is 247Sports evaluation: Possesses an elite combination of size and length for an offensive tackle. Has rare length by way of long arms and big hands along with a lean, but sturdy build with room to add a good bit more weight to his frame. On the hoof, looks as good as you could hope for at this stage for an offensive tackle prospect. Already is around 290 pounds with very little bad weight. Shows his athletic ability while playing both ways at offensive tackle and defensive end. Moves very well at the second level, using quick feet and his length to get his hands on linebackers. Shows good flexibility and bends at the knees. Will need to continue getting stronger and refining his pass set technique. Looks to have a very high upside early on and should develop into a top national prospect. Has the ultimate upside of developing into a multi-year starter at the Power 5 level and eventual high NFL Draft pick.
Anthony Williams | RB | 2021 | Altamonte Springs, Fla. (Lake Brantley HS)
Williams held offers from both Florida Atlantic and Central Florida prior to last week's offer from the Rebels. He was recruited to FAU by new Ole Miss running backs coach Kevin Smith and to UCF by Rebel offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. One of his best friends is the son of Ole Miss running backs coach Kevin Smith. In addition to Ole Miss, Williams currently holds offers from Florida, FAU, Central Florida, Pitt, Indiana, Duke and Charlotte. "Me knowing Coach Smith and trusting him and for as long as I have known him, it really does give Ole Miss an opening for me. The trust I have in him will be a major factor," he told the Ole Miss Spirit. Williams is waiting on an offer from Florida State. He is the son of former Florida State defensive end Anthony Williams. His cousins, cornerback Lamont Simmons and defensive end Austin Bryant, played at Georgia Tech and Clemson, respectively.
Sedrick Irvin | RB | 2023 | Miami, Fla. (Gulliver Prep)
Irvin has solid football bloodlines, as his father of the same name played running back at Michigan State before movinf onto a career in the NFL. Though he's unrated as a member of the 2023 class, his offer sheet says it all. He is already one of the country's most coveted underclassmen with offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss and Penn State among others.
Alfonzo Allen | S | 2022 | Hollywood, Fla. (McArthur HS)
Allen is a four-star prospect rated as the nation's No. 2 safety in the 2022 class by 247Sports. His offer sheet already includes Alabama, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee and Utah.
Deyon Bouie | 2022 | ATH | Bainbridge, Ga. (Bainbridge HS)
Bouie is a four-star prospect rated as the No. 1 athlete in the country in the 2022 class by 247Sports. His offer sheet lists Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida International, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Maryland, NC State, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and now Ole Miss. Here is his evaluation from 247Sports: Adequate height and length on solid frame to build upon. Savvy athlete with awareness and ball skills in space. Already a two-way varsity talent at defensive back and wide receiver, who helped his program to a state championship as a freshman. Has upside at each spot. Competitive at the point of contact. Effective versus the run and pass as a defender with good vertical ability and instincts in coverage. Raw overall technique but fluid backpedal and good transition in and out of breaks. Offensively a smooth and efficient target with some long speed and very good run-after-the-catch ability. Quicker than fast. Runs with good balance and lean. Has plus body control. Willing to play physical ball at early stage. Lack of panic while ball is in flight. Should add good mass along with lower-body power with development ahead of collegiate career. Likely projects as coveted defensive back with traits that can translate throughout the secondary.
