I think the venom comes from the belief that his family and family friends had a big hand in pulling strings to get him hired, instead of allowing Bjork to hire Doeren.
Once again, that falls back on the Chancellor and AD. The Chancellor was too weak to resist the influence peddlers and the AD--who wanted Doeren--should have threatened to resign then and there. I heard Vitter was concerned about his job security, and the influence peddlers went quid pro quo on him: "You order Bjork to hire Luke, and we'll help you when those folks try to remove you as Chancellor." Of course, the influence peddlers dropped Vitter like a hot potato after he ordered Bjork to hire Luke. Bjork, who could have gotten a new job without much trouble, should have exited stage left right then.

Luke does have to learn how to get things on his own. He was forced on CEO's staff, he road on cutt's coat tails to TN and Duke and then was placed with freeze again. I know connections are important as a new coach trying to break in, but this is the first real job he looks to have been sought out and good for him.
but to be honest, I just do not see "IT" in him. He is a great guy with good intentions but after 20 years, I don't see anything that tells me he is an elite coach. He coached some major talent and he can hang his hat on a load of top notch players. But at the end of the day, his unit took way to long to "get together" and I remember so many times that the moment 1 guys would go down, they would have to shuffle the entire line. He just does not give me the warm and fuzzy and if he wants to help UGA, all power to him and I wish him well. I also hope some of that massive payday get's sent back to the UM foundation since he loves OM so much

Heard this morning he was at Newman High school yesterday.
You can be assured that Luke will be recruiting Arch hard, but then again, most schools will, too.

I think grqndpa may have the best advice.
