Football Trio Named to 247Sports True Freshman All-American Team
Ealy, Plumlee, Broeker Collect Postseason Accolades
OXFORD, Miss. – Three Rebels were named to 247Sports' True Freshman All-American team on Monday.
Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, running back Jerrion Ealy and offensive lineman Nick Broeker all collected postseason accolades after their 2019 campaign.
Plumlee, who earned all-purpose honors, finished his freshman campaign with 1,023 rushing yards, a single-season Ole Miss record by a freshman and the fifth-most by any SEC quarterback. Plumlee, who took over the starting quarterback role in Week 5, currently leads the SEC and ranks 11th in the NCAA with 113.7 rushing yards per game.
The Hattiesburg, Mississippi, ranks second in the conference in rushing touchdowns (12). Plumlee finished the 2019 season with the school freshman rushing touchdown record (12), as well as his freshman overall TD record (16).
Ealy, who shared the all-purpose spot with Plumlee, rushed for 722 yards in his true freshman campaign, the second-most rushing yards by an Ole Miss freshman. His six rushing and eight total touchdowns also ranked second on Ole Miss' freshman single season record book.
The Walnut Grove, Mississippi, native ranked second in the SEC and No. 5 nationally in all-purpose yardage per game amongst freshmen (100.9 ypg). Ealy registered a PFF elusive rating of 145.1, the second-highest by any freshman in the country.
Broeker, a true freshman from Springfield, Illinois, appeared in 12 games at left tackle for the Rebels, logging 474 total snaps. Broeker, the highest graded freshman left tackle in the SEC according to PFF, allowed just one sack in 213 pass blocking snaps.
