... While many Ole Miss fans encouraged the idea of Kiffin to Ole Miss – there was an online petition to make sure the school administration got the message – some key alumni names behind the scenes expressed concerns. They weren't the only ones.LSU coach Ed Orgeron, who was 10-25 as Ole Miss coach from 2005-2007, advised Kiffin against the move.Daily Journal sources said Orgeron told Kiffin a certain "fit" was required to coach at Ole Miss, and he didn't think his long-time friend had that fit. ...

Coach O would have a good insight on fitting in at Ole Miss. At Ole Miss, the big donors want a coach that is viewed as country club material. They also want a coach who will cower down to them, do what they say, give them full access to the program, and fit them into the coach's social calendar.
In the eyes of some donors, Coach O did not meet all of these expectations, plus he was losing, so another year for him was not considered. He definitely was not a yes man and did not want outside interference.
Hopefully Lane, if hired, will pass these tests, but you can almost be assured that he will not be a yes man and told what to do or how to run his program.

I am going to say that Ed did not advise Kiffin that way

“I’m not comfy with this guy. Feels like a sugar high. Ask TN and USC. But I’m really not comfy with this Sexton fellow who seems to represent Kiffen and nearly everyone else: AD’s; coaches; players; and jock slingers. Mostly ... maybe ... himself. Very uncomfortable feeling here.”

Well, I appreciate Scruggs money but he also as a history of making it by paying off judges. So maybe Dickie should just stick to paying off liberal politicians and keep his holier than though act to himself

If were Dickie, I'd be in Twin Falls Idaho where they'd never heard my name.

Was Scruggs “very uncomfortable” when Ole Miss hired Luke?
Maybe I’ll rely on facts instead of Scruggs feelings. Kiffin left UT for his dream job at USC, he wasn’t fired. Kiffin was fired at USC after he didn’t immediately win even in the face of huge NCAA penalties.

He sure as heck is winning today. 35-6 at the half.

Maybe Scruggs could get a group of his cronies together and have them break up Sexton's monopoly. If you think of it, Sexton does have a monopoly and uses the media to influence fan dissension that often results in pay raises for his clients. His actions have dramatically increased coaching salaries and made the price of tickets sky rocket.

Sexton is great for Sexton.

Yep that's the way it works. I don't think he is registered as a charity in the US.
