Hearing 6 years 33 million. I think it comes down to Napier or Kiffin now. Arkansas seems to be really big after Kiffin and had a head start.

Norvell could be a bit miffed, too, after he was passed over in favor of Luke during the last Ole Miss coaching search. Supposedly there was some issue, but suddenly there is lots of interest. If I were Norvell, I would probably not be interested in Ole Miss due to this fact, and especially since other schools are wanting him. Ole Miss missed the boat when they could have probably hired Norvell. Instead they got stuck with Luke who drained the bank and ruined the team.

Hopefully Ole Miss is being pro active and looking at quality HC's instead of coordinators who will be learning on the job. The hire needs to be a really good one because the SEC West is full of tough competition.

I hope I'm wrong, but this has a feel of we will conduct a "national search" and then hire in-house. But then again, WAOM or possibly worse... If that happens, I'm going to say that Carter isn't calling the shots.

Based on past hiring practices by Ole Miss, how can any fan feel totally confident that a good quality hire will be made? Freeze was a diamond in the rough, but then he failed because he could not keep up the pace or do the necessary to remain a successful SEC coach. Both Luke and Orgeron failed. Both Cut and Nutt started good, but then went into vacation mode. The only real quality hire that has been made by Ole Miss is Tuberville and he left the school high and dry as soon as he got an offer from Allbarn.
There is no doubt that this hire needs to be a home run. The Ole Miss fans and administration should settle for nothing less.
