Not so sure we the people should start electing coaches. I decline to yea or nay as I don't believe the fans to be qualified to do anything but buy tickets or don't.

Lanes a loose cannon. You don't know what hes going to do. Hes a great coach but that's all we need is more controversy.

I said it in another thread but I’ll say it again here. I have no idea what the infatuation with Kiffin is. Other than being a good OC at USC and Bama where Pete Carroll and nick Saban were the actual coaches, he has been a slightly above average coach. If you can’t win big at usc, you won’t win big at ole miss. I would look at his hiring exactly how I looked at Houston Nutt hiring (before the hindsight of realizing he almost destroyed our program). That would be a “meh, we could have done worse. Maybe we can compete for the sec west every 10 years”.

Kiffin also has a $5M buyout as reported by the OM Spirit. That could really get expensive.

I think this is misguided (to put it as charitably as possible). If Keith decides to offer the job to Lane, I'll be good with it and support him. If it somebody else, I'll support him, too. Carter and Boyce (both Ole Miss alums) understand they must get this hire right.

Correcto! Boyce and Carter have taken a stand for OM and trying to get the train back the tracks. I will give them the opportunity to succeed or fail but at least they have manned up. We don't need armchair AD's We can judge in 3 years perhaps but in the meantime, get on board or go jump. Hotty Potty

i will say, leadership is more than doing something for the sake of doing something. Boone, who had been in this game for a loooong time, hung on to Cutt for a very long time and when he finally fired him, he did so with no plan in place.
I hope carter had a plan, he just did not expect to execute it. And now that he pulled the trigger, I hope we are not making everything up as we go. Any plan will evolve because the coaching circus is a 1-2 week bullride. Things change and change drastically. This is where the AD earns their credibility. the ability to know how to navigate the storm and end up where you need to be
