Re: Positive and negative from Bama game

Wow, maybe the team could get a participation award trophy!!!  This is the exact mentality that correlates to the reason Ole Miss football is obscured in mediocrity.  It does not matter if the score was 59-58, Ole Miss lost the game and the game was counted in the L column.  Moral victories don't count in wins or championships.  Also, how does anyone not know that Saban did not have in his fourth team players in when Ole Miss scored?  If someone thinks the future for Ole Miss football looks bright, then they are definitely drinking kool-aid and following the sunshine pumpers.

Re: Positive and negative from Bama game

a few plays still has me pissed beyond belief.  First was the ass dragging towards the end of the half.  We basically gave up just set up one last play for the end of the half.  We had over a minute to try and move down the field and we never even tried...  You play to win, not to lose.  Bama just rolled up a crap ton of points on us in the 2nd qrtr, you have to try and close the gap....

2nd is that last play when bama basically body slammed our WR while the ball was in the air.  That not being a penalty and another chance at the EZ truly sucks.  THe announcers where like, Meh, got away with a hold, oh well, off to the locker room....  Typical bama ref help..

lastly, we did not get much pressure on the QB, but when we had opportunities, you can guaran-damn-tee  there was a bama OL holding the crap out of our DL.  never a freakin flag..

With that all being said, there was improvement this weekend.  you can deny it if you want, but there was improvement.  you are not going to get mid season performance from a true Freshman QB playing his first game against the #1 team in the nation.  So I am not going to nit pick about an offense that was going to be backed in the corner from so many angles from the get go.

vandy is not very good.  THey will have this game circled like they always do. So luke had better get his ducks in a row.  vandy does not have a very good D or offense.  IN a perfect world, I would like to see a 34 to 17 type game.  Our D is just not consistent enough to play an entire game so i expect to see some good D with a few lapses towards the end.  But if this ends up being another 34 to 31 type performance, at home, that is not going to be cool.  but not unexpected at this point

Re: Positive and negative from Bama game

And that attitude is the exact reason Ole Miss will never win the conference.
38-10 at the half (wouldn't have had 10 except Bama fumbled).
52-17 end of the 3rd quarter
14 meaningless points in the 4th quarter.  woohoo.Scoring Summaryfirst QuarterMISSALA

Good take mob. The only area I'm not seeing improvement is Luke's in game coaching. I've never seen a more scared HC than Luke.

In the past, our offense could not move the ball on bama’s 4th string. So scoring 31 is a positive, specially using 2 brand new qbs. Now this is the type of game we’re we only put up 21 on vandy.  I believe our OL is getting better and with a unit that held up well against a bama DL, I expect the same or better against vandy.

I want to see another 200 yard rushing game and a 200+ yard passing game.  It is unfair because game to game scenarios are different.  Luke has put himself under a microscope and he better realize that. It comes with making 4 million a year.

Re: Positive and negative from Bama game

I don't think you can take the results of the Bama game too strongly one way or the other. Bama is a semi-pro team with several layers of highly talented (and paid) blue chip players. I did think the Rebels played hard for four quarters and never tried to mail it in. That might not be much, but it's something we didn't see a lot of last season (especially in the fourth quarter of most games). I'm not sure what we'll see the rest of the season. I'll just take it one game at a time.
