When I was a student at Ole Miss in the late 60's and early 70's, Playboy was easy to find in all the boys' dorms and in the frat houses. The standing joke was, "I read it only for the articles." Hugh Hefner started Playboy by laying out the first issue on his kitchen table in suburban Chicago in December, 1953. The guy knew what American males wanted at that time, and he gave it to them.
