I don't agree with the power of the current student body making this decision even if I do hate the bear. I also don't like that they extended the vote considering that they probably didn't get the answer they were looking for and just kept it open. It's corruption at the core... but I do hate that bear.

Sets a precident. I can see the potential for classes changing the mascot every few years or even every football season. Come to think of it, that would be the ultimate in "diversity".

Well you do know that the Col. Reb Foundation had a signing of a petition campaign on Thursday and started again Friday in front of Weir Hall. They were shooting for 2500 current student signatures to present to Vitter to include Colonel Reb in the vote. Friday morning Vitter sends a lady out and shuts down the drive. The foundation stated Thursday night that they had approximately 2000 signatures. Who knows what they had or could have had Friday. Vitter is worse for Ole Miss than Dan Jones and I didn’t think that was possible.

Vitter needs to go. Where in the did he come from and who brought him in for the job?

So is it only the students that decide? What about the alumni who have contributed and continue to contribute each year? Financially, the students are supplying income to the school, but what percentage of the incoming tuition money is being funded by an alumni of Ole Miss? Yes, it is rigged a and yes, the administration continually attracts bad attention at inopportune times. Vitter needs to go and Bjork needs to be put under a microscope. It is unfortunate that Ole Miss does not have a Board of Directors to supervise Bjork and Vitter. Instead they get that bag of tricks of a board in Jackson comprised of different members from different institutes who would rather block everything that Ole Miss does instead of let them progress.
Unless I've missed something, this vote isn't anything official and is just a way for the mellinnials to feel like they actually did something.
