Foreshadowing....

Longo, McGriff, Peveto and Peeler were desperation hires.  Sold as solid recruiters, well not Longo but the rest were.
The offensive line coach is irrelevant since the entire group of kids in that room suck and are a reflection of our interim HC who sucks worse.
Roach may end up being ok but the talent in his group would make it easy to overlook any coaching deficiencies.
One other thing that grinds my gears to no end.  Midway through the game we see Tom Luke and his son chatting it up on the sidelines.  Why the hell did we use a spot on the roster for him?  Home game?  Sure.
Then at the end of the game when Matt Luke goes full Les Miles time clock management mode instead of knowing what the hell was going on he's chatting it up with his brother Tom on the sidelines.
I swear to God we should clean house today if it were possible.
Relieve Luke of his duties effective immediately and replace him with McGriff who can gain some HC experience himself since he's learning the DC job on the fly anyway.  Both may make good coaches at lower levels of college football at some point.
If the coaching search isn't going wide open right now then we are totally screwed.  Lots of movement is going to take place in the offseason as it does every year.  Best to get those conversations started right now.  We will pay top 10 money and the new coach will basically not have any expectations for 3-4 years if we get the 2 year bowl ban.  I'm ok with that.  Let any of the kids that want to go somewhere else leave and leave asap.  I want a team full of kids and coaches that want to be there but not only want to be there but want to be successful, win a big way.
Rock told us about Longo.  I'm telling you about Luke.  He's going to ride this ship under water and be named the next HC at Ole Miss.  He has a never ending supply of excuses and a fanbase ready to lap them up and ask for seconds with their mimosas in the grove.

Re: Foreshadowing....

We'll see how things pan out, but my guess is if we don't win an SEC game and we get embarrassed In Starkville  on Thanksgiving night, then Matt Luke's fate will be sealed.

Yep, yep, and yep.....

But here's the depressing thing.....Change comes from the top.  We have basically the same bureaucracy in place so why would we expect any difference in results... We'll get a repackaged version of the same crap sandwich we've gotten in the past....just a different face on it...

One look at Vitter leaves an impression of there is no 'it' factor there.... He simply doesn't have 'it'.  To expect him to take control of a bureaucracy that is a mini version of the swamp we see in D.C. is akin to believing the tooth fairy will come tonight....

I STRONGLY suspect the word is out in coaching circles on our administration/bureaucrats......and Tubberville has as much as said it.... Avoid that HC job like you would quicksand...you will be undermined, not supported, and controlled by a bunch of egg heads that couldn't hold a REAL job if their life depended on it.

So, IMHO, if you want to get to the root cause of why we can't seem to ever get over the top and stay there look no further than the Lyceum and its flying monkeys....  There is a reason we're about the only SEC team left who hasn't made it to Atlanta.....

As much as I detest state college I have to give them credit...they don't seem as afflicted by the bureaucrats as we are.  They don't play the "we're more cool so we can look down our nose at our cross state rival and ignore them" arrogance game......they set their sights on us and by not ignoring us they apparently managed to set us up for a pounding by the NCAA..

Leadership folks.....that is the root cause.  Until we correct that don't expect any different results.  Once every 8-10 years we'll have an 8-4 or in an exceptional year 9-3....but it won't last.  We'll sputter and fall again.

LEADERSHIP....is the answer.....and our's currently is something I'd expect to see running a department or possibly heading up a middle of the road community college...

Re: Foreshadowing....

The reason MooU doesn't worry about the bureaucrats and/or the NCAA is one name. Sylvester "Sly" Croom. They should have gotten the death penalty in 2003 but they offered up the HC job to a minority. They have been flying high and reckless ever since.
