Quick thoughts

1. Defense seemed to play much better. Guys were hitting and were out there actually trying to wrap up for the most part. They were obviously worn out at the end.
2. Longo-ball isn't gonna work. That crappy offense may work against FCS, but not against big boys.
3. WTH was Luke thinking at the end???
4. Our OL is so damn pathetic, it's hard to put into words. It's no damn wonder we can't run the ball. Thanks Luke!
5. Zero discipline on the OL.
6. Turnovers cost us a game we should have easily won.
7. When AJ got hurt, it seemed our offense changed.
8. WTH was Luke thinking at the end? That's worth repeating.
9. Bubble screens would have eaten Cal's defense up.
10. We were outcoached horribly. This was solely on Luke and that shitty OL he has continued to produce at Ole Miss. I'm thankfully for everything he did as a player, but he is not a good coach at all!

I'm hoping Bjork can bring in a decent coach, because we're looking at a lot of blow out loses this year.

#3 and #8......Panic will do that.  It freezes the brain and you can't think logically.....  He was at a complete loss.  He paces back and forth on the sidelines like an expectant father in the waiting room..... One thing you learn early on in the military....when you're in a leadership position NEVER EVER let the troops see you sweat.....EVER!  And he was sweating bullets on that sideline......That carries over into the team as doubt and doubt is a killer.

That's an excellent point and one I didn't think of. But you are absolutely right - he isn't in control of his own emotions running around on the sidelines like a powder blue blimp.

Re: Quick thoughts

Defense did play better -- but overall through the first three games I haven't been overly impressed with Luke, Longo or McGriff....I think after the season the whole staff needs to be blown up and new folks put in place, with McGriff MAYBE being the safest of the bunch.

What I want to know is where is all this talent we supposedly had? Did Freeze get lazy in recruiting, or was he just bad as a talent evaluator?

At any rate -- not that it matters a lot since there's no postseason but it's going to be a long season. I can easily see an 0-8 SEC mark this year.

Ultimately, this all lays at the feet of Hugh Freeze....I've said it before and I'll say it again--he's going to wind up wrecking us as bad, if not worse than Nutt and Cutcliffe did.

Something changed with Hugh....I saw it a couple of years ago.  The light that was in his eyes the first couple of years was gone...he seemed to just go through the motions....no fire...the look of a man burned out.... I guess we'll never know.....

Re: Quick thoughts

I wonder if Luke will take the blame or will he blame it on injuries, travel, the moon phase..

Did he ever take the blame over the last 5-6 years for an OL that couldn't block Granny out of her wheelchair?

Past performance is always the best indicator of future performance.....

Nope, blame was always on injuries, being really young, etc... It was always shocking he was able to keep his job, and now he's a damn HC. Bjork better hire a real damn HC!!
