For those who care, here is a link to the latest Hugh Freeze interview. At this time I have not heard the interview and personally do not want to hear someone talk out of both sides of their mouth. Hugh Freeze destroyed a good thing for himself and for Ole Miss. He showed he was incapable of being a CEO and he let his ego get the best of him.

You need grief counseling. Even with all that went on, we are currently light years ahead of where we were after Nutt.

Freeze destroyed his own reputation and helped destroy OM. No winning season or Sugar Bowl makes up for where we are right now. It will take a long time to recover, and until we get an experienced head coach we haven’t even started.

I understand where Sooper is coming from.
Freeze proved that Ole Miss can consistently compete and win against the gold standard which is Alabama. That trail being blazed makes it easier for the next HC to come in and sell that to future recruits. It's not a pipe dream when it actually happened in back to back seasons and one could argue might have possibly been 3. Regardless of what happens to Freeze no one can take those wins and the momentum they created away for our program. College Gameday was in Oxford. Need I say more? I know a lot of folks grew weary of the celebrity photos of Freeze but I held for a long time that while he was living a high life he was also marketing our football program constantly and we certainly benefited from that. I remember one interview where Freeze was basically asked why he thought Ole Miss should be considered as a contender for the playoffs and he basically said why not? Obviously that didn't sit well with the ones who want Ole Miss to know their place and not challenge the hierarchy. Nonetheless he's the only coach in my recollection who was vocal in challenging the status quo. That's what we have to have to be relevant. None of us wanted any of the flack that came with that from Freeze but Ole Miss clearly benefited from the pub. I remember being in hotel in Ft. Wayne, IN when the 2013 class was unfolding and it was like watching a day long infomercial for Ole Miss on ESPN. You simply cannot buy that kind of pub.
The point of this admittedly rambling post is that it is easier to travel a path that has already been forged than it is to try and convince everyone that world isn't flat.

Unfortunately this message board is very cookie cutter. We have customized it as well as we could but it doesn't allow for any real edits. I looked into adding a post like button with counter but there's not any way that I can see to add the code.

We had 2 years that we were in the National championship conversation. That has not happened in 50 years. Freeze did a great job but then let fame and success take control of his morals and imploded. The ncaa screwed us, not freeze. The only difference was freeze was cavalier in how he responded to the haters which made him our school or target. That’s the only flaw that led to our downfall that we’re paying for right now. But as it was stated he blaze the trail the path is still visible, now we just have to work to take advantage of what was proven a reality

There is no doubt that Hugh Freeze elevated the notoriety of Ole Miss football. He recruited top caliber athletes to Ole Miss and made football fun again, but in the end he failed as a coach. Freeze deceived and lied to both the fan base and his players. This was very unfortunate for Ole Miss because the football program was moving up until Freeze allowed his narcissistic ego to hinder the progress. Freeze started thinking with his wrong head and it cost the positive development of the Ole Miss football program.
