Good for them. They should have been in the CFP, not Alabama. If a team cannot win their conference, then they have zero business being in the CFP (no matter how good the team is).

As much as I hate to say it I think Alabama absolutely belongs there, as did the other 3. I think the committee got it right, except for the seeding if anything. That said, maybe the CFP needs to expand, but not to automatically include the best of "the rest" so to speak. That creates the same problem that I think the basketball playoff system has. Whether the CFP remains a 4 team party or expands to 6, 8, or whatever, it should be the best teams.

UCF beat Auburn - the team that beat the two teams that will be playing for the NC. I realize their schedule was weaker than everyone's in the SEC, but should a non P5 team be automatically disqualified from being able to compete for a NC because their schedule is weaker? Most of the time, there are 1 or 2 undefeated P5 teams, and in that case, I wouldn't have a problem with UCF being left out. But in this instance, and seeing how they played against Auburn, I think they were good enough to be in the conversation, at least.
If you look at the CFP rankings, they had UCF at #12 - behind 3 loss Auburn (who was at #7) and several 2 loss teams. I realize that the committee has to keep in mind they need teams that would bring in viewerships and such, but a 2 loss Ohio State being at #5 shows a bias in the rankings from the committee. Even if the CFP was expanded to 8 teams, UCF still wouldn't have gotten in.
I agree with what you said, it should be the best teams. But I think a stipulation needs to be added that in order to make the CFP, then the team has to win their conference (or hell, at least their division).

UCF belongs. They have a good team, quality wins, and have proven they can compete with anyone.

UCF would have got creamed by any of the top 4 teams. AU had 2 good games when UGA and Bama let their guard down. just my opinion though

At some point though, losses need to matter. So what if Bama let their guard down, they still lost the game to Auburn. Alabama did not win their conference or even their division. That alone should have disqualified them. We have an all SEC national championship game... even though UGA has already claimed best team in the SEC. They beat Bama by default yet Bama gets a second chance. What is the point of conference and division championships if they aren't used to move to the next level?

winning a league where you are the lone top team vs a league in which you have 3-4 other teams that could vi for the top 4 is apples and oranges. going 12-0 with a schedule in which they did not play a ranked team until the leagues championship game is totally different than a bama/uga team that played 4-5 top 25 teams and won.
let me say this, i have grown to hate the sec. I would be fine with a 0-0 double OT tie followed by an asteroid to the 50 yard line, But UCF is not going 12-0 in the SEC. they are not going to the SEC championship game either. they had a great year, AU went 12-0 and didn't go to the national championship game either. It depends on the body or work, not purely wins and loses with an inferior schedule. Looking at their schedule, they won 2 games by holding the opposition under 15 points. Every other game the opposition scored 20+, including austin peay, unconn and SMU. add 10+ points per game if they had an SEC schedule...

wonder if they could hit up the UT ring makers

I love that UCF is doing this, but in no means did they belong in the 4 team playoff. They beat a 3 loss Auburn team. It was a good win and they had a great season, but the serious talk stops there.
I am glad they are having a parade and having a fun celebration for a great season, but if their AD takes it any seriouser( is that a word that that, he is going to make himself and his program look foolish.
