Lee Tyner has resigned from his position as general counsel for Ole Miss, the Spirit has confirmed. Tyner is set to leave the position on Dec. 31.

The university will conduct a national search for his replacement.

Perry Sansing will serve as the university's interim general counsel. Sansing has served as associate general counsel and special assistant to the chancellor for governmental affairs. He is also the university's designated liaison to the Mississippi legislature.

Tyner spearheaded Ole Miss' defense in a nearly five-year long NCAA investigation that culminated earlier this month with the football program receiving final penalties, which included an additional bowl ban for the 2018 season.

Tyner has worked as an attorney at Ole Miss since 1998 and served as the university's chief legal officer since 2003.

We'd better hope he doesn't get a 'gig' with the NCAA......

Re: Lee Tyner - good riddance!!!

Do the math.  His "resignation" is just an early retirement for him.  20 years in the system and I bet he gets a nice golden parachute on the way out.
However his replacement is what needs to be watched closely.

And what a wonderful job he did in all aspects!  Boy, I sure hate that he is leaving!  What will we do??

Well, It says they are going to do a "National Search". What could possibly go wrong with that???
