Yesterday I left Springville, AL, which is just north of Birmingham, around 7 am. My destination was the MS Gulf Coast. It was quite a drive filled will lots of snow and some ice. The heaviest accumulations that I encountered were at the Alabama and Mississippi state line. I-59 South from Meridian to Laurel the roads were not good and did not seem to have been treated. The worst conditions where Hwy 49 from Hattiesburg to Hwy 67. We saw no less than 10 wrecks. The worst wreck was a car that had flipped onto its roof. We encountered snow to near the junction of Hwy 67 and I-10. Who would have every believed that MS would get so much slow, especially in South Mississippi.

Reminds me of pigs on roller skates. Hope no one was seriously injured or lost their lives.

We usually get more snow in north Mississippi than the middle and siuthern parts of the state do. This time we had plenty of cold air, but the moisture necessary for snow stayed further south. It's not the norm, but it has happened before some over the years.
