I always thought State was grooming Mark Hudspeth to replace Mullen?

The academic fraud issue hurt Hudspeth. That's where David Saunders was currently working when he was nailed if I recall. Also I was told he didn't do himself any favors with the moou admin so he was not ever going to be considered for the opening from that point on. I was never told what it was he did just that it was defining.

Florida is a coaches graveyard. Charley Pell, Galen Hall, Gary Darnell, Ron Zook, and Jim McElwain. The only coach to have sustained success there was Steve Spurrier, and they forked over the keys to the kingdom to him. The Bull Gator Club was hands off him until the last couple years. Florida is a rough place to coach.

Agreed on the graveyard comment. I don't understand why any coach would want to go to the big big schools, especially when the middle of the pack teams like Ole Miss and Arkansas pay close to the same and expect far less in the success category. I think you see this biting UT in the arse. No coach wants to touch them because they are so beholden to the crazy fans.

I thought that was what we have all been so passed about; our university does cotton to its fans and alums (the common, everyday folks).

Yes, but at UT, they expect to be Alabama but aren't willing to support a coach to rebuild. Granted, they have been rebuilding since 1998.
