In the long run, Ole Miss might have been better just keeping Freeze. With Freeze Ole Miss might have won two or three more games. It just seems like this was some ploy to anoint Luke as HC. If the NCAA penalties are still severe, forcing Freeze to resign did not help to ease the sanctions. As a fan I do not like what Freeze did to the program, but as a fan, I think Ole Miss football would be better with Freeze as HC.

Fish....as a coach I agree but the problem is that his ability to recruit took a huge hit..... Some of those mommas would have never allowed him in their home and no way they'd let their boys play for him..... So once he went through the current team his days of 4-5 stars would have been about over.
He was panther quick and Leather tough.
If he figured that He'd been pushed enough.

It never works out to go with the emotional hire. Is Ross telling everyone if Luke would have lost the Egg bowl, he would have made this hire. HELL no. So you spent 5 months and 250K to scout, talk to people and come up with the best hire for OM for the future. You thru all that in the trash because of one game. A game that Luke and staff mismanaged so bad they almost lost.

Look for possibly two more years of bowl bands. This could lead to player defections and some less than stellar recruiting years. As a result it could be 2020 before Ole Miss starts to effectively rebuild and 2024 before the team is competitive.

Down on the sidelines after the Egg Bowl win....the look in Bjork's face when he congratulated Luke said it all....That's when I quit suspecting he was going to be the hire to being confident it was to be......

Ed O, Saban, Gus M, Kirby, etc are laughing their asses off. They hied who to beat us..................
