MLB had first two rounds of the draft last night. Being curious I checked on Ole Miss players. We had none ranked as draft prospects. I noticed Hunter Elliot’s name and wondered why he wasn’t even ranked. He did miss basically two seasons but that had a lot to do with the timing of his injury. MLB teams take chances on injured players all the time simply bc they know that they will still be the same player after Tommy John as they were before. He was electric in 2022 and figured he would be on somebody’s radar. Anybody have any insight?

Hunter Elliot has not contributed to the team in two seasons. He had one good season but has not proven himself since then. His lack of contributions can be related to injuries, surgery, and rehab, which kept Elliot out of the line-up. Drafting him would be a big gamble, and the money spent on his contract can be used for a productive player who has proven himself. If Elliot plays next year, he can prove himself and possibly get drafted.
