Re: SEC Country - Could Leach Be The Next Coach?

Nah.  His stock has fallen about as much as Nutt's.

He won 17 games at washington state last 2 years WSU won 9 total in 4 years before he got there. They have been to back to back bowl games for only 2nd time in school history.  They have by far the worst facilities in the pack 12 alot of non power 5 schools have better than they do.

I'm laughing as I think about the reaction from the Grey Poupon crowd......From what I've heard about Leach he'd be received in Oxford about as well as Big Ed was...albeit for different reasons....  The long knives would go into their 'death by a thousand cuts' mode until they managed to undermine him enough to fire him....

We could do worse than Leach. IF they hired him, part of the deal would have to be he hired a great DC.

Personally, if Luke doesn't work out I'd vote for Kliff Kingsbury.

My point was I think he peaked at Texas Tech.  He'll get 8 wins most seasons in a conference with weak defenses, but not in the SEC, IMO.

The key as mentioned would be getting a good DC....

He would score points.....not as many as against weak teams but he'd score enough to win if we fielded a defense to protect a lead instead of getting into a scoring contest like he has in the past....

But as I said in an earlier post....the aristocrats wouldn't take to him.....he's a bit of a stange one.....very unconventional....

Kliff Kingsbury is not only a former star at TT, he is like a god to their alum, fans, etc.  No way would he leave there to come to the 'cluster' that Olé Miss football has become in the last year.

Re: SEC Country - Could Leach Be The Next Coach?

Matt Luke will remain head coach at Ole Miss.  The team is not expected to do well this year and even a 5-7 season would probably secure Luke another year.  This week I talked to someone in Oxford who has good inside information and was told that many of the big names like Luke as the HC.  They believe that Luke's heart is in the job and he truly wants to be the HC at Ole Miss.  Who knows, Luke may do well, but then again he has good practice using the "rebuilding" excuse!!!

Re: SEC Country - Could Leach Be The Next Coach?

There would be absolutely no reason to keep Matt Luke as HC UNLESS Ole Miss gets hammered by the NCAA(2 year bowl ban, 20 schollies lost, etc). Hiring Luke would be the equivalent of waving the white flag of surrender
