Imagine Memphis having NCAA violations in basketball!!! I lived in Memphis during the Dana Kirk era, and know why Memphis was so good back in those days. You had some good coaching, but then there were "other" factor$ that contributed to Memphis $tates success.

Didn’t Dana Kirk, like John Calipari take them to a Final Four that was ultimately vacated by the NCAA?

What is laughable is this is all stuff BEFORE they brought on LARRY BROWN as a asst coach this year. Wait until people dig thru the trash at Memphis from this past year. The most prolific cheater in the history of NCAA Basketball get brought in at 81 years old. It aint to teach the Tigahs how to set a screen..
He then moved on to coach for UCLA (1979–1981), leading his freshman-dominated 1979–80 team to the NCAA title game before falling to Louisville, 59–54. However, that appearance was later vacated by the NCAA after two UCLA players were found to be ineligible—one of the few times a Final Four squad has had its record vacated.
Brown was the HC at Kansas (1983-1988)After Brown left Kansas to return to the NBA, NCAA sanctions were levied against Kansas in the 1988–89 season as a result of recruiting violations; potential transfer Vincent Askew was provided with money to leave his campus visit to visit his ill grandmother. No players on any of Brown's teams were named in the report, and Askew did not transfer to Kansas. The Jayhawks were slapped with three years' probation and banned from the 1989 NCAA Tournament–to date, the only time a defending champion has been barred from defending its title. They were also docked one scholarship for the 1989–90 season, and barred from paid visits during the 1989 calendar year. As harsh as these sanctions were, the infractions committee seriously considered imposing a "death penalty" on Kansas, which would have resulted in canceling the entire 1989–90 season. Indeed, enforcement director David Berst said that Kansas was "on the bubble" for a death penalty. However, the committee opted against imposing a death penalty because Askew was the only player who received impermissible benefits, and because Brown had returned to the NBA by then.
Brown was the HC at SMU (2012-2016)On September 29, 2015, Brown was suspended by the NCAA for 30% of the Mustangs' games in the upcoming 2015–2016 season, and the team was banned from 2016 post-season play, placed on probation for three years, and lost nine scholarships over a three-year period. The NCAA found that Brown failed to report violations when a former administrative assistant committed academic fraud on behalf of a student-athlete and he initially lied to enforcement staff about his knowledge of the potential violations.
But STILL, the NCAA allowed him to be on another college basketball sideline
In June 2021, Brown joined the coaching staff of the Memphis Tigers men's basketball program, as an assistant coach under head coach and former NBA player Penny Hardaway.
Brown is hoping now that the Hardaway stuff keeps the NCAA busy or he dies before they can get to what he has done the past 10 months in Memphis..
The second most sleazy HC in CBB history is in the tournament now. Got Wash St, OU, Indiana all on probation and UH put their hand out and said let me have some of that.. He had to go hide in the NBA for 5 years after the IU deal because of a 5 year show cause. I mean he did it at Indian right under the nose of the NCAA right down the road in Indy. They even warned him to stop and he kept on. In a year or two you will hear some of the same people gasp when the NCAA comes in and breaks up that party he has going there..
I hear people say, they are great coaches and they just get caught up.. REALLY. We have no idea if they are great college coaches because they have never coached within the college rules..

and the 3rd sleaziest guy there is coaching again at Iona at 70 yrs old. Went 25-8, 17-3 this year. You think that is his coaching..lol I put him at 3rd behind Sampson because I don't think he cheated at Boston U as a HC and Providence is a coin flip...lol

I guess people could put John Wooden up at the top of the list with his bag man Sam Gilbert, but it was before my time..

When Calimari left Memphis, things were heating up with the NCAA. He knew it was time to leave so that he would not get caught. Calimari moved on to Kentucky and continues his trendy coaching and recruiting tactics. It's funny how when at Memphis he did not want to play against SEC teams because they were too strong for Memphis and now he is coaching and playing in the SEC.
