Word is that 4-star GT DE Jared Ivey has committed

The portal continues to be very good for us!

Re: Word is that 4-star GT DE Jared Ivey has committed

Guy is a beast.
A lot of Ole Miss’ NCAA transfer portal attention was focused on USC transfers Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg over the last few weeks. However, a new name emerged over the weekend and has now been added to head coach Lane Kiffin’s 2022 class.
Georgia Tech defensive end Jared Ivey entered the portal on Friday after completing his sophomore season with the Yellowjackets, where he made 32 tackles, six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
He announced Monday he will be transferring to Ole Miss.
The former four-star prospect signed with Geoff Collins and Georgia Tech in 2020 over notable offers from Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State, Duke, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
As a senior at North Gwinnett (Ga.) High School, Ivey made 80 tackles, 20 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries and was named All-Region.
The 6-foot-6, 275 pounder was the 16th-ranked edge defender in the 2020 class.
Ole Miss and defensive line coach Randall Joyner are looking for someone to replace Sam Williams’ production. The All-American and All-SEC selection had an outstanding campaign in 2021, making 57 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
If the Rebels and co-defensive coordinators Chris Kiffin and Chris Partridge are going to continue the rebuild on the defensive side of the ball, they will be counting on Ivey to step in and make an impact in 2022.
He has the length to make plays coming off the edge, is big enough to win one-on-ones on the interior and should go along nicely with Joyner’s group that returns Cedric Johnson (32 tackles, 6.5 sacks), Tavius Robinson (28 tackles, 3.5 sacks), Isaiah Iton (17 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss) and Jamond Gordon (13 tackles).

Re: Word is that 4-star GT DE Jared Ivey has committed

The transfer portal is going to change after this year. Especially if teams like Ole Miss are able to reload and carry on the success that we have found here recently. The powers that be will not allow that to happen and the NCAA will alter the rules in the process to make sure things like Holness won’t continue to progress in a positive manner.

With that said, I’m still not sold on the transfer portal but if kids who were not able to succeed to the fullest wherever they went are now being able to showcase their talent then it’s a win for them. I’m not sure I’ve seen very many kids leave a mess and ended up being showcased any better than while they were here but I can say without a doubt, the transfer Portal has done as very well at this point

This is a good get for Ole Miss.  The Rebels need DLs and for the past couple of decades, the recruitment of DLs has been low.  You've got to win in the trenches to stay successful.  Ivey should add to the needs list of Ole Miss.

We'll also probably pick up Malik Heath (WR) from MSU this spring as well (he's gotta get his grades in order, from what I understand).

pretty sure his grades are fine, he just cant transfer from Miss st to OM because of the 1 year ban OM got for "tampering" with the 2 guys from Miss st that OM quit recruiting and they went to FL ( All Buckley's fault).

same issue with the QB Abraham that wants to transfer and walk on at OM.  Both can do so at the end of the spring semester

Oh yeah - that's what it was! I'm not sure who I'm thinking about then. Thanks for the correction on that!

Heath is a thug,  Yeah, he is a good receiver but it only takes one rotten apple to spoil the bunch.
