How in the world are we only #13 of 14 in SEC, only ahead of Vandy, with this stellar looking class?

Mississippi was stacked this year, especially on the DL and we pretty much struck out. We got some really good players, we just didn’t seem to get the top to bottom SEC impact players that everyone else got. State flipped at least two 4 stars in Mississippi from us.
Not sure if all the Kiffin to other schools rumors hurt us that badly or not but we didn’t exactly seem to be hitting it out of the park before all of that.

Below are the recruiting ratings at the beginning of signing day and the results today, after recruiting day. There was not much movement and the recruited class falls in the bottom of the SEC. Rebel fans have to hope that Kiffin will be bringing impact players from the portal or getting other players who have not signed an NLI. If he cannot do that then the results of this class will be questionable on paper and have to be judged on the field.

I can't help but think the rumors certainly did play a part in swaying decisions of several recruits. It was all over message boards of Lane going to Miami, Oregon, and every other job opening out there. Lane not refuting any of those rumors publicly didn't help out.
I do hope we are able to load up with some great talent in the portal. I think he's looking at that as a way to build up the roster through "free agency". And, he's seemed to allude to that fact that route is part of his strategy.

Lane not refuting the rumors of him to other schools was probably damaging to recruiting in addition to Lebby leaving. You can be assured that other staffs used the pitch that Lane would not be at Ole Miss very long.

Guys, none of what you are saying is true. lane is playing a difference game than many many schools.
He knows deep in his soul that OM is never going to out recruit Bama/UGA/LSU/Tenn and many schools with more resources and donars.
he is going to use the portal and other means to get the roster he wants and improve OM
I can promise come the end of July, the additions to the OM roster wont be any 13th in the SEC.
watch and learn the new way to build a roster
also, check this out and try to think of a new way of doing things..

He's trying something different. He's going to poach players from other schools. Let's watch and see.

Nix might be the QB, Guy got better each year at Auburn. A guy like Kiffin can get the best out of him

Do you think the coaching staff does not feel that Althmeyer will develop? He was a top rated QB out of HS, but has not had the opportunity to get on the field experience.

I dont feel that way at all, but you cant have him as the only option. Same as A&M only having King right now, that is why we are getting Max Johnson
